Beer for urbanites: as tempestuous as it is untamable, made from wild Brett yeast. Leads its turbulent life inside this bottle. Gets even wilder as time goes by.

Neigt naar Orval, maar dan waterachtiger. Een van de betere commerciële bieren. floraal, kruidig, pompelmoes. Verre van slecht.

Bottle at de koninck, antwerp, Orval style. Hazy golden color with a big bubbly white head. Funky smell. Aroma is brett, lactose, dry hopping and Citrus, incense, sandalwood labender and perfume, brass, old furniture. Strong carbonation. Light to medium body, spiced dry finish. Taste quite bitter and yeasty. Very soapy, out of the ordinary, for brett lovers, other wise really weird.

Okay, I must say this one should be ranking higher, IMHO. I don’t know whether I’d be able to tell it from Orval in a blind tasting: it’s pretty damn well done following that mighty difficult path (ask Mikkeller.) So, yes, it’s not the original nor exactly as good, but it’s right there. So, if you like Orval, quite surely you’ll like this one-eyed pigeon. Right, the tasting: pours intense yellow (but not golden) with greenish highlights (yes, this is not like Orval, I know.) Aroma is in the high grades: lambic, Orval, yeast, cider, grass, pear. Also lemon, sweet apple... This is more like it, isn’t it? Taste is dry, medium body, fizzy, great acidity. Just a tinge of bitterness at the end. A decent industrial Orval mimic.

This Wild Jo doesn’t make me (so) wild... Rather mediocre and middle of the road beer. Don’t find the promised Brett yeast back in this beer.

harrisoni (18969) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JUN 25, 2017
Bottle at Duvelorium Grand Cafe Brugge museum. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Well it’s cold. Some yeasty esters. Is there some brett as well? If so then its a pleasant bretty blond ale. Good peppery hop finish. First beer of the day and i wasnt sure how the body would react but thisi is good. Too fizzy

Pyrmir (6154) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUN 6, 2017
330 ml bottle in Brussels. Hazy blonde with white head. Aroma and taste are mild, yeasty, slight honey, herby grassy hops with a mild yeasty finish. Light brett character

Bottle - Light bready notes with a touch of hops. Clear gold with a decent white head. Nice hoppy notes and citrus.

Pours with a lot of fluffly white foam. Color is of nice pale lager. Inviting aroma has bowling hall, rubber, men’s shower gel. Does not really smell like beer at all. Palate is a bit more dry than oily. Carbonation is pretty ok. Taste is light and has hops, sweet malt and some atmospheric tastes (like the city air in the night). Some IPA tastes like grapefruit as well. A very interesting and atypical beer. Not bad at all and could buy again. Maybe a bit watery, but also refreshing.

Banzale (340) - FRANCE - MAR 21, 2017
Bu au brasseur place de Moeskroen. Bouteille de 33cl. Couleur blonde assez pure belle brillance ! Mousse présente mais dissipé et trop approximative. Au nez : note de levure, bret ? Et de céréales , malts. En bouche : note de céréales et de levures . Sensation malts et houblon plutôt présente mais assez dure à distingué. Longueur moyenne . Plutôt bière de soif agréable par ensoleillement.
