COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To celebrate thirty years of Kafé België, we collaborated with Brouwerij De Kromme Haring to make this heavy, pitch-black and unashamedly smokey imperial porter. Looking as fearsome as a barracuda, it takes some guts to dive in the water. After the plunge, the reward is a beautiful complex beer with roasted flavours of coffee and chocolate and a rich and subtle smokiness. It finishes nicely bitter and dry. Please drink at ca. 10º C ABV: 7.5% EBU: 32 EBC: 100+ 18º Plato Ingredients: Water, Malts (Pale, Rauch, Crystal, Munich, Chocolate & Roast), Hops (Williamette, EK Gold), Yeast (US05), Batch 01&02 brewed at Maximus, Batch 03 brewed at Brouwerij Troost

13/07/2017 @home - 33cl bottle from de Bierkong, Amsterdam. Dark brown with sticky small mocha head. Nose starts fully meaty smoke, dark malts, chocolate. Taste start fully but gentle smokey, dark malts, touch of roast, chocolate, bready, sweet touch in the end. Just enough smoke to make it interesting but drinkable enough.

Very nice subtle smoky flavor, which blends well with the other aromas (not like other smoky beers which can be quite harsh). The smoky aroma is wood, campfire. Sweet malty, cacao, coffee. Mild bitterness in the finish, but some more sweetness as well. It’s very smooth, subtle, and balanced. This beer alone is one of the reasons to go to De Kromme Haring.

Fles. Mooi zwart van kleur. Drinkt vrij gemakkelijk, lijkt niet eens zo sterk van smaak. Dat komt later pas. Want dan komt de nasmaak! Erg lange nasmaak van scherpe, bittere, rokerige stout. Klasse!

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2017) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of liquorice, smoke and espresso. Malty, roasted taste with sweet liquorice, smoke, coffee, roasted malt, dark bread and a balanced roasty bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and fairly well balanced, with a mild smoke note. Nice one.
