COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
To celebrate thirty years of Kafé België, we collaborated with Brouwerij De Kromme Haring to make this heavy, pitch-black and unashamedly smokey imperial porter. Looking as fearsome as a barracuda, it takes some guts to dive in the water. After the plunge, the reward is a beautiful complex beer with roasted flavours of coffee and chocolate and a rich and subtle smokiness. It finishes nicely bitter and dry. Please drink at ca. 10º C ABV: 7.5% EBU: 32 EBC: 100+ 18º Plato Ingredients: Water, Malts (Pale, Rauch, Crystal, Munich, Chocolate & Roast), Hops (Williamette, EK Gold), Yeast (US05), Batch 01&02 brewed at Maximus, Batch 03 brewed at Brouwerij Troost

Quite proper porter, a little bit smoked and also with a thick chocolate punch. Nice dense taste but also fresher than some very sweet porters/stouts. Suitable to order more than one.

Bottle pours opaque black with a creamy mocca coloured head, that lasts well. Aroma is rich: smokey malts, licorice, coffee, chocolate; nice. Taste is smoke, choco, mild bitterness, soft sweetness; light bitter and smokey aftertaste with some laurel licorice. Soft carbonation, oily feel. This is a rich beer; smoke is its first and last element, but very well in balance with other senses. It's not too bitter, not too sweet, a lot to taste; and less alcoholic than you might expect with such a complex beer. Well done!

Keg at arendsnest. Pours black, nose is meaty, smoky, liquorice, toffee, taste is similar, dry finish.

On tap @ Kromme Haring, official opening 2014 version. The aroma has light roast, porto tones. Black coloured beer with a thin, beige head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, roasty, has some coffee, porto, some dust. Still remained an easy drinker. Very nice.

On tap at Arendsnest Amsterdam. Black beer lasting tan head. Chocolate on the aroma and flavour. Light smoke. Its there but its more dark chocolate than a rauch. A little heat on the finish. Its pretty good. A characterful porter. Ok .

LCI. Van de tap @DeKrommeHaring. Lekkere smokey porter, geroosterde mout, koffie. Lekker vol

13/07/2017 @home - 33cl bottle from de Bierkong, Amsterdam.
Dark brown with sticky small mocha head. Nose starts fully meaty smoke, dark malts, chocolate. Taste start fully but gentle smokey, dark malts, touch of roast, chocolate, bready, sweet touch in the end. Just enough smoke to make it interesting but drinkable enough.

Very nice subtle smoky flavor, which blends well with the other aromas (not like other smoky beers which can be quite harsh). The smoky aroma is wood, campfire. Sweet malty, cacao, coffee. Mild bitterness in the finish, but some more sweetness as well. It’s very smooth, subtle, and balanced. This beer alone is one of the reasons to go to De Kromme Haring.

Fles. Mooi zwart van kleur. Drinkt vrij gemakkelijk, lijkt niet eens zo sterk van smaak. Dat komt later pas. Want dan komt de nasmaak! Erg lange nasmaak van scherpe, bittere, rokerige stout. Klasse!

Draft - Nice smokey notes with some sweet roast. Jet brown with a rich light brown head. Nice roast, some raisin and chocolate with a long finish. Nice smokey nad light roasty notes.
