Bottle. Pours black with a huge white head. Herbal, chocolaty aroma. Herbal hoppy taste, citrus, chocolate and lots of coffee beans in aroma. Light quenching texture. A bit dry. ClaudeB04 (405) - Dudelange, LUXEMBOURG - APR 8, 2014
The first beer of my Brussels weekend experience ordered as an apéritif while waiting for food at Nüetnigenough.
I didn’t know what I had to expect from a "black IPA" and to be honest hadn’t even registered the beer was from "Brasserie de la Senne".
Dark colour, little head, discreet hoppy nose.
Taste to me was an IPA taste with very slight coffee an malt taste.
Extremely tasty and refreshing after a long walk through Brussels.

Coffee and smokey smell, no hops or yeast at this point. Some sugar traces. Dark brown body, with very little head (the big bubbles dont last), the cargo isn’t its strongest assets. Taste revive the smells of coffee and smokes but adding some interesting licorice sugar taste but the texture doesn’t follow. About the palate ill mention a good short bitter finish that leaves some roasted coffee in the mouth for quite some time. very nice IMO. Overall I was expecting more of this one but I’m not an expert in Black IPA so it’s as good as any. Drinked from 33cl Bottle from fridge in Teku glass PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - APR 1, 2014
Bottle, shared with Mathieu87.
APPEARANCE: black beer, small stable beige head.
NOSE: smoked, burned malts, little sweet.
TASTE: burned malts like, little hoppy. Decent! ElManana (2079) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - APR 1, 2014
Medium, rather dense dark-beige head over virtually black beer. Rather warm chocolate nose, with some spicy, but discreet hops. Bit of bubblegum and herbs. Dry, coffeeish, even stoutish flavours; dry-roasted barley. Hops are again just there in the background, mild and discreet. Little or no hopbitterness, sweetish and roasted malts in evidence. Plywood and coffee retronasal. Well-carbonated, medium bodied at best, bit sticky MF. A bit watery imo.

Black bodied and tan super stable frothy head. Dark roasted malts, herbal, green and pine hops, well balanced, clean yeast, brown bread. Delicious mix although it isn?t very heavy. Active carbonation like an ipa yet roasted sharper notes, even getting some bitterness from the malts. Lasting bitterness, full tasting ending. Not deep, but that again it’s and ipa not a stout. Totally worthy of its abv. I love it. I?m a total sucker for this kind of beer. (33cl bottle from La Cave à Bulles) jinroh (1595) - ESTONIA - MAR 22, 2014
Pours black with a small white head. Aroma is not strong, with a bit of roast, some weaker hops. Taste has some nice roast, hops are coming out better. Dark bitter chocolate with some bitter grapefruit seeds. Tongue ends up feeling dry, with some bitter roast flavours lingering longer. Overall, good black IPA but not very special. Dark brown color. Very light brown head. Molasses, coffee and dark chocolate nose with just a bit of hops. Moderately aggressive hoppiness, with good roastiness but not a ton of depth. Bitter finish with some roasted malts. Not bad sdmmb (1826) - BELGIUM - MAR 22, 2014
Drunk from 33cl bottle bought at Malting Pot, Brussels. Dark black. Almost like a mixture of a stout and an IPA.
