Aroma of burnt toast and some fresh, green hop. Flavour has many layers of bitterness especially burnt, roasted coffee and malts. The hoppy side adds a freshness which comes through in the finish. tom10101 (6084) - Quebec, CANADA - MAR 20, 2014
Bottle (330 ml). Dark brown (almost black) with a frothy brown head and some lacing. Nice roasted presence along pine notes, dark chocolate, pine and fruity esters. Taste is of roasted malt, fruity notes, resinous notes, dark chocolate, caramel and moderate bitterness. Medium body. Good carbonation. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Dry finish. Very good beer. Different, in a good way, from North American Black IPA. Another nice one from De la Senne! BierFiend (248) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2014
Pours dark brown with foamy tan head. Smells of bitter/sour malts. Tastes of hops, bitter, malts, and coffee. Has medium carbonation with bitter finish. fiammanghilla (972) - Genova, ITALY - MAR 17, 2014
Bottiglia 33cl, ordinata su birraland e bevuta a casa.
Nera con schiuma fine e molto persistente.
Già al naso si sente la torrefazione e una punta di luppolo.
Corpo medio, carbonazione leggera.
Inizia con una bella luppolatura sorachi e continua con le note tostate, finale amaro.
Ottimo esempio del genere. Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - MAR 13, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Finally I can taste this beer now. Been looking out for this one for a while, yet no where to be found, but than, one store in Belgium had 3 bottles left, I just bought one, don’t sweat your fears as there might be one left for you.
Medium sized quite vast beige light brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer.
Aroma is very well in balance, a very nice mix of the hops and it features and the roast, chocolate and coffee, mainly.
Flavours of hops, roast, chocolate, grapefruit, malts roast, wood, marzipan, citrus, bitters, herbs and grapefruit.
Aftertaste is a medium bitterness with medium roast and coffee and some hops, herbs and light citrus tones.
Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium to full bodied and a creamy texture.
Maybe easy described, but it’s not that complex, though very well balanced!

Bottle from Geers, bottled on Jan 22 2014. Pretty dark pour with frothy tan foam. Aroma is quite roasty, lots of really piney, really grassy hop aromas, rich dark chocolate. Taste is bitter, roasty and chocolaty with a stong grassy and resinous hoppy finish. Palate is full bodied with strong, slightly prickly carbonation. Nice. markschiedon (682) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 12, 2014
Drinking blind from a 33cl bottle.
In the aroma caramel, coffee and licorice. Not so nice.
The unclear darkbrown beer has quite a brown head.
The taste does remind me of drinking an espresso. A thick substance that’s bitter with some sweetness underneath. Taste makes it up for the aroma.
Low carbonated. Plovmand (8312) - Helsinge, DENMARK - MAR 12, 2014
Bottle. Thx Kingcecil! Pours black with a creamy beige head. The aroma is citric hoppy with some roasted malty and licorice notes. Licorice, grapefruit and citrussy flavor. Great balance.
