COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Taras Boulba is the perfect session beer — loaded with complex yeast flavors, hopped to perfection, and as drinkable as any beer you’ve ever tried. At 4.5% alcohol, it’s built for drinkability — we suggest buying it by the case.

You’re no doubt wondering where the name comes from and what the hell the foreign text says. It’s all been explained to us by the brewers, but we’re still not entirely clear about it. What we can understand is that a young Flemish man has gone and married a French-speaking Wallonian girl, and his father, Taras Boulba, is very angry. (Smeirlap means ‘fool’ in a bizarre local dialect, which combines Flemish and French, somehow.)

This is all a bastardization of the original story by Gogol, whose protagonist was Ukrainian (Zaporozhian Cossack, specifically), and a Protestant. His son marries a Polish girl, a Catholic, during the religious war between the two countries in the 1600s, and the Ukrainian father simply kills his son to eliminate the shame.

Packaging: 330ml bottles; 6/750ml cork-finished champagne bottles, 30L kegs

Kita (2215) - Koper, SLOVENIA - SEP 12, 2017
Bottle, 0.33l. Clear straw color with thin soapy white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of citrus, wheat, grass and elderflower. Taste starts light sweet grainy and yeasty, follows by citrus and bubblegum, mouthfeel is rather dry, while finish is light bitter. Light body, thing texture and lively carbonation in palate. Refreshing thirst quencher...

Cloudy yellow pour, strong white head, plenty of lace. Nose is yeast and herbs. Bitter. Middle is pixie sticks, wheat, and herbal hops. Finish us hoppy, dry, and a little citrusy.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2017 Schiuma abbondante e poco persistente. Molto amara con un in ingresso acidulo che scompare in bocca aprendosi ad un bouquet deciso e molto gradevole

Hazy , yellow color. Huge , white head. Yeasty esters, peppers, hops and hint of malt in aroma. Dry, balanced taste with rather hoppy profile and malty background. Very well brewed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

JaKeAFC (1266) - ITALY - AUG 21, 2017
On tap at helmut Treviso, pint 6.50. Yellow color, hazed, big white head, rocky, persistent, lacing. Aroma is light spiced and heavily hopped. Sadly malt profile is very thin. Light aftertaste of grapefruit. Taste is really bitter for the style, mineral, leads to a dry finish. Light body, average carbonation. A nice bitter wit sadly lacking the smoothness i love in the style but original and good for that.

It’s a sad thing indeed to reach the bottom of the glass when you’re drinking this ale. It’s the kind of beer that just makes you want to reach for more. Champagne-like yeast esters. Lightly peppery Belgian yeast flavors and dank hops. This pale-colored brew has carbonation that shows visible liveliness, yet it’s soft on the palate. Anyone who enjoys beer from Brussels would do well to fill a large glass of this stuff. From there, rinse and repeat.
