bartlebier (3929) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - APR 15, 2013
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2014 33cl bottles, for regular sampling aka intermediary sessioning. - Finally a dearly needed light Belgian ale that doesnt knock you out with its high ABV, high sugar level or overcomplex yeast profile - while being still full of taste and expertly balanced. Also, great to finally taste some character EU hops in a light yeasty ale: medium ripe apple, some spice, somewhat reminiscent of De Ranke Guldenberg (De la Senne and De Ranke somehow often overlap...) but less heavy/intrusive and tending toward saison (as many of this brewerys beers). Velvety smooth palate, almost fit for sessioning. / Resampled on tap @ PinPon, Bxl: grapefruit marmelade goodness, fruity, round and bitter with both citrus rind and Belgian hops. Stellar on fresh draught.

PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - APR 11, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2013 33cl bottle. Appearance: clouded blonde beer, stable white head. Nose: yeast, peaches, apples, light, quite hoppy. Taste: very bitter, fruity and nice finish, had this beer multiple times before, but I enjoy it most really really cold. In my opinion a little to bitter and dry, maybe the hops, but very nice fruity finish.

This probably the finest light ale on the Belgian scene presently, a great everyday beer, full of hoppy flavour without being at all overpowering, very well balanced and a great one to drink with friends while watching a football game.

Clear golden-oragne colour (SRM around 6). Nice, frothy head. Great aroma of hops, and a bit of herbs. Medium/heavy bitterness. Medium body. Finish bitter. Not too long not too short. I love de la Senne brewery. Every single beer that Ive tasted was great. Also Zinne bier.

33cl bottle. Hazy orange color, small to medium white head. Nose : fresh aromas of citrus and pepper. Clove and bread, tart malt notes. Sip : medium body with oily texture. Well carbonated. The beer has a malty, sweet start. It is really well hopped and develops strong bitterness flavoured with pepper, citrus and some pine. Aftertaste is bitter and herbs, a bit sour. It is really easy to drink and refreshing. I'm used to this beer and usually have a case of it. One of my favourite everyday beers.
