Donkerbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is ietwat zuur en fris naar zeker nier onaardig. Moet even wennen aan dit bier maar dan komt alles beter op zijn plaats. Taste is complex, woody, vinous, sweet and tart with a complex Cognac-like barrel influence. A great sipper, right up my street. Tap at Arendsnest, 20th December 17. Pours a dark murky brown, slim lacey head. Aroma is barrel and sour, wood. Taste is amazingly complex, wood, barrel, vanilla, then a slight sour brown finish, bourdon features, wet barrel, slight sweet and then sour niggles. The beer looks fine. The color of the beer is a reddish brown, white dark. It also has a touch of plum in it. The beer is extremely cloudy. On top of the beer hardly any foam is formed, just a very slight drape of white stuff. Not bad though. It has the look some Barley Wines can have...with a lack of foam due to the cask ageing.
The smell of the beer is great. It has a lovely sour wild yeast touch...probably from the cask flora. Even though the wild yeast is clearly there, it aint to strong. It is just nice and inn balance with the other aromas, like sweet malts, som candy sugar and some nice sweeter aromas of mildly bitter fresh hops. Quite delicate.
The taste is also nice. Mild malts, candy sugar, oak wood, hops and sour but gentle wild yeast. Lovely. There is a touch of red wine to. It is quite balanced, especially for a beer with sour wild yeast. Amazing. One of the better sour beers I've had.
The palate of the beer is good. It has a medium body, smooth, but slightly sticky texture and low carbonation. The finish is nice. It has some nice candy sugar and some sour yeast. Lovely.

Bottle from Monster Magnet as part of the EU Local Swap. Boozy and tart vinous aroma. Also sensed it with my eyes! An opaque ruby brown. Creamy off-white head. Gains in both bitterness and sourness, after a misleading low key start. The former peaks and leaves the latter to close proceedings Like the aroma, it's tart. However it doesn't over do things. As I drink more it changes tone and develops a sweetness. Thick bodied. Not so much creamy, as gloopy but smooth. A light prickle of carbonation. Long dry finish. Great Sunday evening sipper. Flasa by Cuso. Jantarova farba, slaba pena. Vona jemne kyselkava, cervene prezrete ovocie, vanilka. Chut sladova, sladka, jemne karamel, prezrete ovocie, vanilka, kokos, kyselkavost. Velmi prijemne pitie.
