Cuvee Jeune Homme is an oak-aged bitter beer. Originally it had a slight citrus-bitterness due to its 4 hops and the subsequent dry hopping. It is acidified while it ripens for 4 months in oak wine casks. The daring bitter-sour combination is moderated by this ripening process and as a consequence it is a very pleasant drinking beer.
Ingredients: water, barley malt, sugar, hops, yeast. Re-fermented in bottle.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Hazy yellow. Aroma of oak, cellar, some oxidation, a bit of vinegar, honey, lots of fruits. Sourish and slightly sweetish flavor with lots of wood, honey, oxidation, fruits, a bit of vinegar, and a bitterish note with a light citric note. Medium-bodied. Good.

Bottle at home. It pours a lightly hazed yellow/gold color with a white head. The aroma has some moldy grapefruit funk. Very bright and potent. Hints of pome fruits. The flavor is very bitter with grapefruit pith and rind. Some moldy lemon. Potpourri. Strong acid with some hints of solvent on the exhale. A little astringency on the palate. Barely noticeable malt. A little rough.

Geur: hout, eik, vineus, zurig, melkzuur.

cloudy to clear orange, small white head. aroma is dominated by lots of oak, also faint sour notes, and malty and caramelly notes, very woody dry. Flavor is very woody oaky, super well rounded sort of belgian yeasty bretty base to a boozy woody clean yeasty top with just hints of flowery hops. much less brutal than most crazy belgian yeasty beers, and it tastes like lots more than 6.5%. i think i can taste grapes in the wood, the wood and wine flavor reminds me of some of the more special mikkeller beers also on wine barrels. If you like that kind of beer, this one is one of the better ones.
