3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very good pink head, leaving lace over clear ruby beer. Smoked cherry nose. Not overpowering, but intriguing. Like old cherry skins on alcohol. Nice, dry, if not sour cherryflavour - but neither artificial. MF has a lipsmacking sourishness then, that is refreshing. Quite some (fruit?)slickness, grist; long fruity aftertaste. Very good non-lambic kriek. Misses maybe just a tad sourishness in order to appeal to greatness. Why not try, and recreate the Zottegemse Kriek from Crombé times...?
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2017 At Modeste, shared by Helena of Billie's Bierkafetaria, cheers! Loosely knit, 'dirty' off-pinkish head over a completely cloudy, if not milky deep fuchsia red robe with purplish hue. Aroma of sour cherries and cherry skins, unsugared cherry yoghurt, raw rhubarb, sour milk, wet oak, red wine vinegar, sour unripe blue plums, redcurrant, sourdough, hint of red candy. Tart onset with a cherry sweetish core, sour raw rhubarb and redcurrant, vague banana hint, overruled by lactic yoghurty tartness over a fluffy, doughy, bready malt body. Crisp, tart and still very fruity finish, lovely cherry skin and wood tannins, yoghurty sourness softly lingering. Quite complex, very fruity, very crisp and refreshingly tart with well-hidden alcohol: this is an interesting and tasteful modern sour 'kriek' in all respects. Would love to revisit this. ludos68 (61) - - SEP 24, 2017
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2017 splendido il colore, rosso rubino e splndidi gli aromi ed i sapori: ciliege, legno, vaniglia ed una acidità acetica presente ma assolutamente non invadente. Splendida!! Zilverenmaan (263) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - SEP 11, 2017
Poors clear ruby with light pink head. Aroma lots of acidity, good balance with the cherries, some alcohol. Taste acidic, cherries, some bitterness and malts of the base beer still present, giving it even a vague "tartness" impression. Made more complex by the vanilla clearly present in the background. Taste rather subtle but with good complexity. psilosophy (801) - vitry en artois, FRANCE - SEP 9, 2017

Plutot legere Ulysse (539) - Brussels, BELGIUM - AUG 26, 2017
Strong aroma and very enjoyable mouthfeel. First in the mouth is a bit bland. Nice aftertaste sets in right after smroush (297) - Michigan, USA - AUG 18, 2017
Aromas of cherry with a some oak spice.
Color is an amber red; the head is off-white but tinged with pink.
Taste is quite dry and fairly sour; bitterness seems fairly low, though it may be somewhat masked by the sourness.
Body is light to medium; carbonation is slightly lively; finish is long with cherry and a hint if vinegar from the sour fruit. Alcohol is less prominent than you might expect for the 8.5% ABV.
Overall a good example of a sour fruit beer. bhensonb (15609) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 13, 2017
Bottle from Final Gravity in Roseville, CA. Pours bright cherry against a strong light. Head might be a bit pinkish. Moderate cherry/sour aroma. Med body. Seems a bit of a cross between a sour red/brown and a kriek. Sour is moderate. A good deal of cherry. Quite entertaining. kermis (14478) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 9, 2017

Draft at Murphy’s Law, The Hague. It’s a very manly hazy pinkish red with a big pink head. Real funky upfront, barnyard bretty with some dry cellar funk alongside and of course some tart, and slightly sweet cherries. Taste is light to moderate sweet and light moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
