COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Botte, pours black with a large beige head. There seems to be half an oak in there, but not in a bad way. Whisky is not too dominant. Salty liquorice, dark chocolate, and a bit of red fruit. Quite bitter with a bit too much carbonation.Good!

fkoolen (1427) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - JUL 11, 2017
Bottle at home. Pitch black, foamy beige head. Big roasted malty espresso, cacao, tobacco, leaner, vanilla, whiskey, red vinous notes, medium-high bitter finish, alcohol is well hidden but gives a nice heath. Lingering dark, roasted malty, whiskey aftertaste. Firm body, medium carbonation, oily mouthfeel.

Volle body, zacht romig mondgevoel, zacht koolzuur. Afdronk is zoetig en een beetje plakkerig.

375ml bottle @ home. Pitch black color. Head is interestingly light beige on top, getting darker towards the beer. Aroma’s: caramel, roast, a bit fruit, alcohol. Retronasal there’s whisky, roast, sweetness, some fruit and wood. Flavor is above moderate sweet, chocolatey, roasty. Strong alcohol feel, somewhat sharp and burning. Full bodied. Finish is roasty, moderate bitter. Wow!

Bottle from Drinks & Gifts, batch 6/7 BB 01-2022, 37.5 cl sample. Dark color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of roast and dark bread, dark red fruit and salty licorice. Bit vanilla and caramel sweetness, salty licorice, roast. Not a lot of barrel, but carefully blended with a fairly thick base RIS, which is more towards licorice and roast than chocolate. Good job.

Bottle. Almost black. Roast, chocolate, oak, raisin, red fruit and vinous notes in the aroma and flavor. Vanilla. Alcoholic. Sweet, full bodied. Massive, complex beer. Loved it.

Bottle at home, poured a dark black colour with a tanned head. Nose of dark roast, light smoke notes, dark Dried fruits, sweet vanilla oak notice, fudge, sweet chocolate, whisky spirit, with the cherry notes slightly in the background. Smooth round mouthfeel. Very good

MelvinKalksma (1880) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 25, 2017

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, wood, vanilla, red fruit, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque dark brown/black beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts heavy sweet with malts, caramel, wood, vanilla, red fruit, chocolate and mocha; enda slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and coffee.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Amazing amount of wood and vanilla thanks to that Macallan barrel, with a perfectly complimenting red fruit from that other whiskey which name I do not know. Perfect appearance and palate as well, simply an amazing beer.

375ml Bottle shared. Appearance: A Black body with a brown head. Aroma: wood, booze, liquorice, roast, toffee, white pepper, red fruit..It’s a bit hit and miss somethings work and some elements are a bit off. Taste: A spicy, alcohol, Barrel is quite up front, roast, liquorice, coal, chocolate, toffee, red fruit, hay, vanilla, mocca,. Dark bitterness, moderate sweetness, and spicey boozy alcohol..Big complexity but also a huge boozyness. Medium carbonation, light sticky texture,, full body. QUite rough.Taste in aroma are complex, but it seems that some choices on the barrel ageing are not fully matching, creating also a boozy part which is overpowering a lot. Still more then decent. But not as good as I expected.
