Bottle @ home. Black color. Almost no (beige) head. Aroma’s: roasted malts, tar, red fruit, alcohol. Retronasal it’s sweetish, chocolate, a bit tar, roast, light peat, woody, red fruit. Flavor is above moderate sweet. Alcohol is warming but doesn’t feel overly strong. Above medium bodied. Low carbonation. Long finish, chocolatey, light bitter.

Mooi zwart bier, fijne mokkakleurige schuimkraag. Diepe volle smaak. Zacht geturfd met een mild-bittere afdronk. Laag in koolzuur. Genietersbier. Top.

Bottle at home, 23rd June 17. Pours black, no head. Aroma is barrel, wood, liquorice, coffee, chocolate. Taste is barrel, oak, wood and peat, liquor, slight whiskey, very well integrated. The mouth feel is soft and viscous, smooth. Fantastic barrel aged beast. Love the brewery.

Bijl (810) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2017
Top!

The smoke and peat of the Tomatin give a nice addition to the burnt malts of this beer. It actually levels out the hops making it a bit more malty. The oak makes it more smooth then the base beer. I like it!

markextrae (4485) - Alingsås, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2017
From bottle, poured dark black with no head. Nose of intense whisky notes, charred oak, spirit, cacao, and light roast in the back. Taste is heavy, spirit, to intense

MarcoDL (5380) - NETHERLANDS - APR 29, 2017
Bottle. Black oily pour, unsurprisingly. Aroma of soft smokey peat, salty licorice, chocolate and roasted/caramelised malt. Taste has salty licorice, smoke, soft peat, bitter roasted malt, booze, chocolate, coffee and a boozy finish. The barrel aging is done well, but the beer could use more complexity.
