The Beer Store, Southampton PA 11.2 ounce: Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is smokey malts, molasses, coffee, Taste is somewhat sweet. Body is really sticky and chewy. Minimal bitterness, but there a kind of smokey aftertaste to be had there. Some minimal hop bite. Mostly an avalanche of burnt molasses though. Alcohol is, of course, well-covered. marcus (10222) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 22, 2014
Bottle from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours near black with a modest tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a rich chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a dry bitter finish. thomashall (994) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - OCT 10, 2014

"i wasn’t as impressed by this one as the others were. it came of as rather pedestrian for the price and/or abv. not bad at all, but also does nothing that stood out from the pack. light-medium bodied for an impy."

may 2013 bottle. dark chesnut brown, some tan head. Aroma cheese leather wood, chocolate. Tastes soy, chocolate, tannic, slight lactic, slight sour, tart, wheaty, smooth roasts, and slight berries. Slight acidic palate. Really underrated here. I love these throwback porters/stouts. boozedude (2228) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - AUG 24, 2014
Oh boy...This is a friendly one! Dark pour with chocolate and the heavy alcohol is not that noticable... love ut crazyvin (2026) - New York, USA - AUG 3, 2014
