3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Found in a lost corner in his warehouse, I was allowed to take home a few corked bottles, unlabeled. Almost pitch black color, frothy head. Bottle opened with a bang. Licorice, cinnamon, dark chocolate and cream in the aroma. Warm alcoholic flavor with coffee, licorice and cinnamon. Somewhat thin, alcoholic and sharp on the tongue. Firm roasty aftertaste, with some earthy hops. Very tasty strong stout, but it could be a bit more balanced. Nevertheless a fine effort to revive a long lost brew.
11.7 oz bottle pours deep brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and a fruity note. Taste is classic stout. very nice beer. Capa (3325) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - FEB 24, 2017
Bottle date is May 2013. Drank Feb 2017. Deep brown with nearly no head. Some sour notes, light roasted mat, chocolate, booze, cracker, sweet caramel. Medium slick body. Finish is slightly sour and sweet. Very enjoyable. Jabah (505) - Winter Park, Florida, USA - OCT 3, 2016
This is a fine example of a British or Euro-stout. Has that flatter feel with a slight sour flavor. Also seems like a special or different yeast in these kinds. Alcohol is hidden quite well for 10%. Pours a darker brown and on the thinner side for a stout. Cloudy-ish....slightly clear beginning of pour with a little sediment towards the end. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, and some mild fruity stuff that gives that tarty-sour taste. Quite complex. but still retains that base stout flavor and feel. I highly recommend this one. Pours a dark brown color with minimal khaki colored head. Chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, and some caramel on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with chocolate and some vanilla. Gerbeer (3796) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 20, 2016
330 ml bottle. Pours black with a moderate foamy tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, Roasted malts and a little alcohol. Flavors of same with emphasis on dry roasted malts plus a little black coffee and a lot more alcohol. Except for the noticeable ABV a really nice stout - rich though not sweet with all the essentials.

2/9/2009 10:09:23 AM Bier Koning. A wondrous Stout from de Molen. Dark brown with thin tan head. Dark roasty nose. Wondrous flavours of chocolates, dark berries, coffee. Thick and creamy texture that gets sweeter towards the finish. anthony850 (472) - Andover, New Jersey, USA - JAN 24, 2016

Dark brown coloured body with a very thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, earth, toffee, nuts, light hops, and a bit of soy sauce at the end - not so great. Light-bodied; Very thin malt notes with a touch of grain, but mostly a toffee and light pit fruit sweetness coupled with some mellow earthy notes and a touch of smoked peat. Aftertaste is very mild with the sweetness coming out, but not much other complexities. Overall, a very substandard beer, for the style, overall and especially the brewery - I’m not sure what happened here, but I’m definitely not getting this one again. That said, i’m super happy that I bought this here stateside (still flew home with it), but that I didn’t buy this in Holland and carry it back across the Atlantic - definitely not worth it at all for this beer. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Leukin’s Liqour in Dunedin, Florida on 03-October-2015 for US$4,99 sampled at home in Washington on a chilly night of 06-January-2016, with a bottled on date of 24-May-2013.

Bottle - Lots of dark cocoa notes and some nice chocolate sweetness. Much like a tootsie roll. Jet black with a rich and nice light brown head. Lots of bittersweet chocolate and coffee with some toasted notes. Finish is long but a bit thin. Nice jimhilt (2611) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 3, 2015
Pours a one-finger khaki head that fades quickly leaving traces lace. Dark opaque brown color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel and dark chocolate nose and flavor is balanced with caramel and baked chocolate. Higher ABV is hidden. Bottled 24/5/2013, $6.49 for a 330ml bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, MA.
