From bottle at tasting arranged by Sällskapet Malte in Feb 2011.
Somewhat cloudy brown colour with a thick dark head. A hint of toffee apples, sweet spices. The Challenger bitterness dominate, aroma hops aren’t present in the balance. Too sweet and bitter for the style, too alcoholic for my taste. rederic (3344) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 17, 2011

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Shared at the bottle share at the Addison Flying Saucer.
The beer pours a hazy brown color with a tan head. The aroma is heavy on the dark fruit and toffee with some brown sugar mixed in. The aroma is more of the same. I get a lot of toffee and chocolate notes, with some dark fruit mixed in. The alcohol is fairly noticeable, as expected from a beer that is nearly 11 percent in alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - AUG 30, 2011

Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass very dark, almost black, huge head. Starts intense malty, modest alcoholic, fine spicy like christmas spices. Also some chocolate and caramel notes. Warming and well balanced finish, some woody notes, still spicy. Great beer!
