On tap at Proeflokaal Arendsnest (Amsterdam, Netherlands)dEnk (4200) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2012
I’m hoping that this is in fact the correct Bakker Wort Brouwer, as the label on the tap did not specify ’Port + Bowmore’’, but this is the only listing on ratebeer with the correct abv. Anyway, this one poured like syrup. Oily colored and oily textured. No head whatsoever. Almost no carbonation. Very sweet beer, hints of port. Aroma is licorice, earthy, butterscotch.
Bottle @ de molen. Aroma is huge laurel, liquorice and roast, all covered in thick whiskey. Flavour is big bitter laurel and liquorice, heavy roast and ash, alcoholic whiskey note, long lingering bitter roast in the finish. corby112 (2804) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Draft at Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia, PA.
Pours pitch black and completely opaque with a one finger beige head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind.
Amazing smokey, peaty aroma with a strong barrel presence that’s nicely blended with the dark roasted malt notes. Very peaty/smokey whiskey presence with toasted dark chocolate, robust coffee, burnt toast charcoal and smoked meat. Amazing!
Slighlty chewy medium body with an excellent balance of barrel character, smoke, peaty whiskey and dark roasted malt. Pretty intense with great smoke and whiskey flavor dominating throughout. Couldn’t pick up port in the nose but it makes an appearance here with subtle sweetness. Hints of toasted oak and vanilla with great whiskey flavor that doesn’t give off any heat. The high ABV is invisible. Underneath the barrel and smoked whiskey there is a nice roasted malt character with some burnt toast, dark chocolate, coffee and oatmeal. Well balanced and very easy to drink. Delicious. PhillyCraft (7589) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 17, 2012
Pours deep blacl no head or lace. Aromas and taste are seriously peated out, ultra roasty grains, roasted nuts, smoked almonds. For all the peat its very drinkable. jredmond (8445) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Draft with Vinny at Monk’s during the De Molen event. Pours a pitch black body with no head, lacing or carbonation. Aroma is roast and peat. Mouthfeel is ok with tons of peat, smoke, roast, nut, and nice alcohol disguise.
