Nip bottle to celebrate my birthday & more importantly rating #6000. It pours jet black with a thick dark tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, coffee, earth, dark chocolate, mild acidity, fig, date, christmas pudding and cocoa powder. The taste is rich, oily, deep roast, espresso coffee, warming alcohol, motor oil, bounty bar, earth, some acidity, toast, spice, plummy, treacle, oak and salted caramel with a slick, warming finish. Dirty full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Big and punchy, yet somewhat drinkable. A great imperial stout.

25 cL bottle courtesy of Chris, served in a stem glass next to Black Albert. The nose has lots of molasses, chocolate and coffee, along with touches of cognac and oak. The flavour is moderately sweet with roasty notes, liquorice, molasses, tobacco, chocolate and espresso. The finish is long and roasty with espresso and a touch of smoke. On the palate it is medium-full in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall a very nice imperial stout. Complex and roasty with nice espresso notes. 2014-03-29

Review from notes. 18cl bottle. Finally opened this personal cellar gem, it was long overdue. Pours a solid jet black with fine tan-colored foam. Aroma is light, yet rich. Coffee, dark chocolate, green peppers, intense grapes from the cognac. Taste is mostly coffee, fondant chocolate, candy sugar, vinous cognac and alcohol warmth. Coats the palate, silky smooth yet never heavy or stodgy. Low in carbonation, but definitely present. This is about as close to technical perfection as I’ve had from an imperial stout. Mind-bogglingly delicious.

From tiong. Thanks, man! Dec 5, 2012 batch had Oct. 2013. Deep black. Nose of anise, dark roasted and burnt malt, cola, vanilla. Fudge throughout, burnt malts, coffee, vanilla, licorice, barrel. Finish is incredibly long...bitter and sweet, boozy. Amazing balance. Creamy mouth feel with a lot of carbonation. Just keeps getting better. Bottle says 10.5%.

Deep brown/black, thin tan head. Aroma: dark bread crusts, licorice, bittersweet chocolate, dark dried fruit, roasted malts. Flavor is similar, with a minerally character and an earthy/leather note that adds complexity. Complex and tasty.
