Enjoyed on tap at Zwanze Day at WLV Liquors. Served in my Zwanze taster flute. Vignale (4051) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 12, 2012
A: Pours a jet black color with a thick and creamy dark mocha head forming on the pour. It recedes very slowly leaving behind thick traces of lace.
S: Big and boozy, there is a nice underlying sweetness and fruitiness. Heavy coffee, chocolate and just a little bit of cognac sweetness.
T: Boozy with a nice chocolate presence. Sweet cognac, ground coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate and a heavily roasted malt presence on the finish. Some sweet malts also pop up towards the finish.
M: Thick and oily with a medium low carbonation level. Roasty and sweet finish.
O: Big and boozy, but the nuanced flavors really pick this beer back up and it’s really good. Glad I got the chance to try it.
Serving type: on-tap
Cognacsfatlagrad IS. Fantastisk. Swans (137) - FRANCE - OCT 16, 2012
Soy sauce with a pretty brown head!! Aroma is coffee and soy sauce, soy sauce palate,..maybe betterwith sushi, is f*** soy sauce but is good.. too freak Ktwse (5594) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 6, 2012
Pours black with a medium tan head that drops quickly. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, molasses, a hint of coffee. Taste opens somewhat sweet before turning into coffee and cocoa bitterness. There’s port wood and brown sugar there as well. Finish is quite boozy, with low carbonation. Body is thick, creamy and sweet. A nice imperial stout, slightly too sweet and boozy for my liking. Huhzubendah (3762) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Thanks to Sean for hooking me up with this fantastic beer.

The appearance is near black with a thin, oily beige collar. The aroma brings delectable cognac, barrels, roast, oh wow - so good. The taste is silly. Smooth and rich, just teeming with flavor. Roasty...did I mention silky smooth. If i could give the mouth feel extra credit, I would. Yeah man, I am really digging this. Lots of cognac in both the nose and flavor, which is fantastic. Warming finish with alcoholic presence noticeably absent, which is a bit surprising, given the 13% abv. A stunning beer. I am huge fan of both of the beers that went into this blend. World class.
Pours a super dark brown color, with a thin cocoa head. Impossible to see through. The nose is liquor, dark fruit and alcohol, toffee. The taste is amazing. Cognac, dark fruit, alcohol in the taste. Really complex, and unbelievable this beer is 13%. It goes down so smoothly and easily. Dangerously good. Overall, a fantastic brew that I feel honored to try.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Pitch black body. Thin khaki skim. Nose is roast, cognac, coffee, anise, yeast spice and chocolate. Flavor is similar as coffee, cognac, and chocolate are complemented by a little Belgian yeast notes and a slight boozy quality. Medium bodied. Lingering finish. biggirlpanties (204) - Oceanside, California, USA - AUG 22, 2012
Nip bottle thanks to Travlr. Shared with GT2 and JulienHuxley. Pours pitch black with a small, reddish head. Aroma is heavy sugar, dark chocolate, very rich. A little boozy. Taste is more dark chocolate fudge, sweet and boozy, dense dessert beer. Palate is a little hot and sweet for me but the sample was quite small. Overall very good. Bottle. Big thanks to travlr! Reddish brown pour tan head. Aroma of vanilla tons of chocolate, caramel, lots of sweets. Taste is sweet, nice roast, vanilla, very nice, barrel finish. Syrupy palate but very nice, good warmth. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 20, 2012
180mL thanks to Travlr. Pours clear mahogany to near black. Reddish mocha foam. Nose is lemon, soy, graham cracker, spicy umami, seaweed, smoke. Taste is a bit tart, powdery, sweeter with De Molen yeast sediment and mega sugar. Not a Ryan Artuso style beer. Little hoppy balance. Huge maple and brown sugar. A sweet dessert stout. Nice to have in a small sample. 4oz is more than plenty.
