Awesome to get a chance to try this. Pours black with a milk chocolate brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of roasted malts with a hint of coffee and underlying notes of sour red fruits/Bordeaux barrel and a nice light vanilla bourbon note. Flavor has an overlying sour red fruit note but the base is much more malty with dark grains, roasted malts and a hint of bourbon in the finish. A bit muddled on the tongue. dutchbeerpages (2439) - Wilnis, NETHERLANDS - JUN 2, 2012
The barrel influence is noticable. Slight sour, whisky like taste with a full well rounded finish. Amazing fatty palate. Bottle number 1836, guessing from 2010. Havent been too blown away by De Molen beers lately. This one is simply brilliant. Ughsmash (7502) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 16, 2012
Nip bottle, 2010 vintage, #1429. Poured clear, deep brown with a short and uniform, but well-retained tan head. The aroma picked up bright barrel notes upfront (oak, bourbon, and vinous) with burnt, lightly smoked dark chocolate and licorice notes beneath.. wisps of vanilla and tobacco too.. a lot going on, and it was all good. The flavor opened with tangy oak and bourbon.. vinous notes and nondescript roasty dark malts at the core.. finished with more sour-ish barrel and residual roast. Heavier-bodied with thick, rolling carbonation on the palate.. not a bad feel overall, but there was a bit too much barrel presence. DutchDrebus (6327) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - MAR 28, 2012
18vl bottle @ buitenlust. Pitch black, opague colour with a light brown head. Smells coffee, roasty, ash, chocolate, alcohol. Tastes dark chocolate, bitter, coffee.. Great stuff! Full body, great carbo, thick, oily, warming. JAXSON (611) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 29, 2012
Another ’lil medicine bottle of Dutch barrel-aged stout. Pours black with a handsome ring around the collar, perhaps a touch more carbonation than some of these have. Nose is a bit sweeter, vanilla like, with a touch of anise, not so peat and ash forward. Really high carbonation on this. Dark chocolate and anise in the mouth followed by a strong wine-like red currant and berry flavor. Lots of chocolate cherries in the finish, slightly tart. I’m not a huge fan of wine barrel aged stouts, especially ones that focus on very sweet berry flavors such as this. Not bad, decent, drinkable at least, tons better than Black Hole (Red Wine) at least.

(Bottle) Pours near black with a small head. The aroma is medium roasted with subtle barrel profile. Tones of coffee, light vanilla, light floral honey and tiny hints of grapes. Also room for some fresh dark berries. The flavour is light sweet, medium bitter and tiny acidic. Coffee, dark chocolate, subtle barrel character as well as some hoppy notes. The mouthfeel is soft and almost oily. Citric and light numbing finish. Medium bodied. HenrikSoegaard (14704) - Randers, DENMARK - DEC 4, 2011

Bottle 1537 of 2040. Midnight pour, not a hint of light penetrating the body. 1/4 inch latte head that leaves a spot or two and diminishes into a cloud that defiantly floats above the squid ink. Tons of dark fruit, touch of soy, and lots of booziness. Oak, vanilla, bit of red wine, chocolate, and molasses. Chewy.
