Bottle, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV 11.2%. Black colour, big to moderate tan head. Oaky and vinous aroma, also notes of dark malts, leather, chocolate and coffee. The flavour has overall the same elements as the aroma. Excellent beer! Geokkjer (7667) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 7, 2011

pre-GBBF "Rock the roof down tasting". Very deep rubyish brown colour, close to black, with a small beige creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice, wood, coffee, some bourbon as well as mild alcohol. Flavour is being quite much the same in a quite a nice balance. Also some mild vanillaish notes to it. Pleasantly balanced.
Muddy brown, creamy beige head. Nose of roasted malt, bit of ash and cake. Flavor is a bit green, nutty, plant-like, more malt and cake, some bitterness through the finish, bit of heat. Way better than the straight bordeaux, barrel actually goes with the beer. Still not a huge fan though. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 21, 2010
180mL courtesy of Travlr. Pours a deep brune to noire with a medium, healthy, tan head. Ruby highlights in the snifter. Aroma of roasted nuts, chestnuts, smoke, vinous richness, burnt cherries, sweet dark fruits. Neither barrel is picked up here necessarily, but what emerges from both is quite complex and hard to pinpoint. Taste is massively rich, nutty, creamy, sweet, vanilla and gelato richness abounding. Thick and viscous on the palate. Probably the best beer of the night apart from the vintage Goose Island Matildas with Brett! argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 20, 2010

Sweet chocolate nose with some light bourbon notes along with some spicy wood. The taste is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lots of chocolate, lots of toffee and dark fruit. Mediocre. Travlr (26433) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 19, 2010
Bottle courtesy of me. Very dark brown. This one is carbonated! Nice brown head with decent lacing. Aroma of coffee, whiskey, wood. Taste is chestnuts roasting over an open fire. Very nice.
