UPDATED: DEC 17, 2010 Bottle #1464/2040. Dark color, light burns penetrates only at the edges of the glass, tan head that leaves moderate lacing. Vanilla and charcoal in the nose. Initial sip is sweet, dark chocolate, coffee, roast that turns quite bitter on the back of the tongue. Mild alcohol and bourbon dominate the aftertaste with a faint background of roasted coffee. An enjoyable stout.

First Snowfall of the Season tasting in Odense. Black with a lasting tan head. Deep and dark aroma, with lots of chocolate and fruit, and some licorice and bourbon. Full and sweet flavour of licorice and chocolate, with dark fruits, a touch of honey and hints of alcohol. Quite sweet, but the beer can carry that.

Bottle courtesy of Jaksmart. Black pour, khaki head. Aroma has strong oak and bourbon qualities, vanilla, figs, ripe plums, funky red wine notes, leather, not much roast, very barrel dominated. Taste is roasted, burned wood, strong oak, vanilla, bourbon and port qualities, some alcohol. Gorgeous after taste with oaky vanilla along with a hint of alcohol burn.

Bottle. High creamhy and long lasting light brown head. As expected the body is dark as the arctic night. Spicy aroma, coriander I guess, with a somewhat sour berries note hops and alcohol. Hard to describe complex flavor of coffee choccolate hops alcohol ssweet beeries and a spicyness and something I guess is whisky. Oh I like it. Low carbonation. Long aftertasted.

De molen black isak. small nip bottle as given to me via trade via an amsterdamite named rob. and thanks to mark for delivering... Pours typical impy styled darkness coloraton of a de molen barrel-aged stout that is topped with a thin to medium light beige head... Chocolate and fudgy nose with an equally measurable vanilln and bourbon aspect that shadows it quite in a complementary way... Flavors are robust, assertive and very forward as some of the other de molen with barrel and spicy finish. The middle is sweetened but quickly turns to the more heated finish. Liked at first but then became too much if a boozy mixture. Thin to medium bodied with a pretty high level of carbonation. 8/4/8/3/15

#1858, bottled Dec 16 2009. Looks black, very much like any stout. Head is smallish. Smell is sweet and somehow brings alkaloids to my mind. Taste is bitter, sour and malty. I might be drinking this beer too cold. Some of the herb aromas are perhaps weaker thy could be. Call me crazy but just like this would be really good stout that only misses smoky flavor. Due the difficulty to get and not being super extra ordinary this beer is most likely overall over rated.
