PotjeBier (3839) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 11, 2010
18 cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Pours pitch black with little head. Aroma’s of wood, vanilla, whisky, smoke, soysauce, sweet malt, roast and alcohol. Taste is sweet ’n’ bitterish, roasted, with a hints of wood, whisky. Burning mouth (& throat-) feel, a bit too much for my liking. Roast and ash with some bitterness in the finish. Good, but could have done with a little less acolhol imho.

Bottle, 18cl. Pours a clear and very dark brown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is malt, roasted, ash, coffee and licorice. The flavor follows the nose with some additional sweetness. The palate is sweetness and some notes of alcohol. Overall a really good beer. [Rating #1800]

Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks Brad. Brewed 16 Dec 2009 Bottled 13 May 2010 Bottle 338 of 1440 The beer is dark brown and sports a thin, beige head. The beer appears viscous, leaving a sheet of oily lacing on the walls of the snifter. The aroma offers oak, roast, tannins, dark fruit, malt, booze. The flavor follows the aroma to a tee. Lots of dark fruit character, which, in most cases, I do not care for, finding it to be a deterrent. However, this beer has a lot of nice things happening, all of which compliment one another. Low carbonation, thick and viscous, rich. A warming finish but alcohol presence is unobtrusive. Overall, a very tasty beer. I would enjoy having this again. Recommended. Sweet roasty chocolatey aroma with strong alcohol tones. Sweet, chocolatey and coffee-roasty with light wood tones and defined alcohol notes, definitely a touch of whiskey.

Bottle thanks to darkguardian. Black pour with a faint tan head. Big whiskey and roasted malt aromas. The body is a little thin with all kinds of whiskey notes and undercurrents of coffee, bitter dark roasted malts, and caramel..

Bottle # 531 shared at one of gunnar’s top shelf beer tastings. Black with clear red edges and topped by a short lived creamy brown head. Molasses and alcohol among the aromas along with roasted notes and dark dried fruits. Sweet and alcoholic flavors with plenty of roasted notes and coffee. Full bodied and splendid!

Bottle. Dark brown with a minimal light brown head. Aroma is leather, licorice, chocolate, wood, cocoa. Taste is medium+ sweet and medium bitter. Medium+ body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Medium bitter finish with a slight alcohol burn. I lost track along the way. Very pleased.

Bottle. Pours out in an opaque black colour with small disappearing tan-coloured head. Rich aroma of wood, whiskey, nuts, raisins, figs, black chocolate and roasted malts. Full-bodied with strong notes of wood, lack pepper, whiskey, burnt malts, black chocolate and white pepper. Long roasted finish of wood, white pepper, figs and black chocolate. Really intense and tasty!

De molen black Jack. Small nip bottle consumed at de molen... Pours a dark cola brown, almost black, with a reddish tinge as you work towards the outer rim. Little to non-existent head, more so a thin ring of light beige film... Bourbon or whiskey woody nose with a little peat, tobacco, and some bitter dark chocolate... Flavors are an amalgamated combination of woodiness, chocolate, peat, and a soft smoke. Sweet through the beginning and middle moving to a bittering finish. Alcohol hits mid-palate and through the finish. Fairly warming all around. Closer to thin than medium bodied. Carbonation provides some life. 7/4/8/4/15

Marsiblursi (3083) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 6, 2012
(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with a small head. The aroma holds chocolate roast, light oak and some smoke. Some coffee as the beer gets warmer as well as brown sugar and raisins. The flavour is light sweet, near medium bitter and light acidic. Hops, oak, smoke, hard roast, coffee, liquorice and light citrus. The mouthfeel is soft but too light for an Imp. Light carbonation. Roasted and citric/resinous finish. Medium bodied.
