Black pour with a nice foamy tan head. Sweet whiskey heaven! Lots of molasses, whiskey, grade b maple syrup, dates, ash. Flavor is sweet up front, a nice bitterness from the roasted dark malts hits, whiskey, chocolate, sweet delicious heaven!

Bottle traded to me by kamiel, thanks dude, tried with Al, pours deep black with light off white head, accompanied by spotty and light lacing. Aromas of the most rich scotch whiskey smelling barrel ever, roast, licorice, dark fruit, molasses, flavor is coffee grounds, chocolate, fudge mix, tobacco. Everything that is good about stouts in the winter time is encompassed in this Dutch brew. Stickiness is medium with the same for the body. Warming. Cheers Meno.

Bottled, (#608/1560). Extremely black, creamy small beige head. Strong port-like vinous nose. Oaky and full bodied. Plenty of licorice and chocolate, whiskey comes along later. Despite all these flavours it remains silk smooth and pleasant. Salty licorice, aniseed, grains and chocolate - lots of everything, yet there is harmony. One of the best whiskey barrel aged imperial stouts there is!

Sweet roasty chocolatey aroma with strong alcohol tones. Sweet, chocolatey and coffee-roasty with light wood tones and defined alcohol notes, definitely a touch of whiskey.

Bottle # 531 shared at one of gunnar’s top shelf beer tastings. Black with clear red edges and topped by a short lived creamy brown head. Molasses and alcohol among the aromas along with roasted notes and dark dried fruits. Sweet and alcoholic flavors with plenty of roasted notes and coffee. Full bodied and splendid!

Pitch black, large head. Wooden, sweet vanilla, lightly coffee and chocolate aroma.
Taste roasted, coffee, vanilla, whisky, high alcohol. Very nice.

bottle ( 18 cl ) 437/ 1440 , thanx to kermis !
brewed 16-12-2009 , bottled 13 - 05 -2010 . back then i didnt even drink craftbeer lol :p

pours very dark, near black. good foam ( brown) that fades , but leaves a good layer .

smell is quite heavy, roasted malts, bitter.
soft, sharp carbo. waaw ! best porter i had for sure. why not call this a imperial stout ?

a rather light mouthfeel, but still very nice. carbo is low, but sharp. just the way it should be !
bitter, roasted malts. coffee, redicolously drinkable? 12,5 ABV ? this drinks away like a lager.
there’s some ’ hidden ’bitterness in this, also get bread notes ( grains?? ) very sweet. leaves a sticky backfeeling, and a very , vey low alcohol warmth . but its there . has notes of coffee as wel.
very complex, much is going on in there, yet its so easy to drink..

again, another ’old’ de molen beer that is redicolously awsome. is it that they get so much better with age? or is has de molen realy got so much worse?

caesar (7342) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2009
Tap @ de Molen. Black colored, medium brown head. Lovely aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolat, whisky, hint of brown sugar and vanilla. Roasted malty taste, slight sweet, quite bitter, hint of alcohol, whisky. Great balance. Great beer.
