Hopfig-säuerlicher Antrunk in gelunegenm Verhältnis. 12/8/8/7/11/8 Christian (13861) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 19, 2010
Black with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of licorice, ink, roast malt and peat smoke. Dry and slightly thin dark flavour of ash, roast malt and peat smoke. Tannin probably makes it feel a bit thinner sfhodense (4788) - Odense NØ, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2010

Bottle 33cl. A dark beer with an off white head. Smell is roasted with some sour notes. Aroma is very roasted with roasted and some sour presence. The beer is mostly dry with a long finish but alcohol is present. With oak and smoked flavor the beer is correctly balanced.

Corked bottle from Pallieter85, # 1 of 85! Deep dark brown color. Peated malt, dark chocolate, whisky and ash in the aroma. Full bodied. Peaty flavor with dark chocolate and loads of whisky. The alcohol is fairly well integrated. Peaty finish. World class! Gary (2087) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2010
(Cask @ GBBF ) . I assume this is the right listing , as theres like several for this beer-it was 8.2% on the festival barrell. I wouldn’t of known this was ’smoked’ as listed here , my notes found it to be classy malt textures..aged and rich -with lots of chocolate and complexty ...but was shitfaced i recall...it was classy though. so know that. Ok, so I was really ill during Pre-ZBF, REALLY ill. Menno being the absolute legend that he is sent a bottle of this excellent and very rare stuff back with Sim for me. Massively appreciated sir! Fantastic deep red brown colour with a very good beige head. Good looks, good start. Once we all had some of this in our glass we all spent quite some time sniffing at it. With good reason, it smells outstanding. Some big whisky malt and some superb complex barrel notes. Menno’s special barrel has certainly done the trick here. Gloriously smoky and roasty, it’s excellent. Sweeter in the mouth than I was expecting but it’s no problem. Typical De Molen stuff, effortless to drink yet challenging at the same time. The complexity that the barrel aging has imparted is just stunning. It’s all really well integrated though. Slightly raw alcohol in the finish but it’s not spoiling it any. Great length, really interesting, damn good stuff. Either this was a little too young at Pre ZBF or the rest of you are mad, this is great.
5th March 2010. Pre ZBF. Crispish dry palate. A little sour note on the nose. Sourish malt with some zesty fruit - hard to pin down. Finishes dry. Couldn’t taste any barreling. Palate refresher.
