Bottle at home. Pours brown, nose is light fruit, toffee, taste is malty, sweet, a little fizzy. Beerhunter111 (22974) - P´Castle, GERMANY - MAR 3, 2014
Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Malz, Karamell, rote Früchte. Geschmack süß röstmalzig, rote Früchte, leicht würzig. Christos (5897) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - NOV 8, 2013
Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a snifter. ABV 6.2% harrisoni (19413) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 20, 2013
The bottle opens with a loud pop. Pours mostly foam, thick, off-white in colour, with a retention so good that gets annoying. The small amount of actual beer in the glass is very light in colour and crystal clear. In the meantime, more foam has formed in the bottle and starts to come out of the bottle, forcing me to refill my already full glass.
Aroma of caramel malts, a bit nutty, a hint of alcohol after a deep sniff.
Taste of caramel, toffee, noble hops, light cookie dough.
Medium thin body, way too much carbonation. Saved by some swirling in the glass.
Overall an average one, drinkable but under certain conditions (like waiting for the foam to collapse and swirl it a bit to lose some of the carbo)
Bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury drunk on the train to Maidstone. Hazy brown colour lasting off white head. Decent malt with some fruit even a little faint coffee flavour. Very carbonated so I gave it a good swirl in the glass. Very drinkable. A good amount of malty flavour. Hops are light on the finish but still there and stop it being near sweet. Tasty beer. Classic De Molen gusher, 30% of the job lost prior to drinking and slowly rising in the glass and bottle thereafter !
Pours a hazy amber brown with a big old off white head of frothy bubbles.
Nose is malt forward, dark fruits, earthy, bread dough, toffee.
Taste comprises brown sugar, toffee, cake mix, dark fruits, bready malts, very subtle smokey tones.
Medium bodied, prickly carbonation - a little over cooked.
Solid enough bock at the end of all the mopping up !
330ml bottle - BB2013-08, drunk 2013-09 zedisdead (8) - - SEP 26, 2013 does not count
Deep brown, poured mostly clear. Huge spongy head. Lovely toffee aroma, a touch dusty, very rich, a little bit nutty. Light palate, crisp carbonation. Lovely rich nutty roast, a little bot toffeeish, pleasantly walnut papery bitterness, finish is more hazelnutty. Lovely bitter bite and tingle in the finish, lovely noble hops. No heaviness to it at all, makes you want to drink it more like a 5% beer, doesn’t say strong. But tastewise it’s a sipper profile. Aged brilliantly, certainly tastes a little aged, but there’s nothing saying this is past its prime at all, even though its BB was a month ago, I would bet it would still be good in 6-12 months.
Bottled in 2011. Appearence : big light persistent white head, pours brown. Aroma : grain, alcohol. Taste : typical complex bock style finished by a balanced bitterness. Excellent bock. ShivanDragon (4649) - Leeuwarden, NETHERLANDS - AUG 27, 2013
