At Borefts Beer Festival 2013. Hazy copper with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with toffee, some fruity notes and vineous alcohol. Sweet and thick malty and fruity flavour, with hot alcohol, some brett character, and a somewhat astringent finish

Excelente.

Bottle from de Molen shop, tasted 12/07/2013. Pours chestnut brown, ruby highlights, nearly flat with a still surface yet some residual bubbles occasionally rising to the surface. Aroma of cherries, berry jam, slight tartness, strong vinous funk and brett, subtle vanilla, wood in the finish. From time to time acetone notes come into the nose which is a bit off putting. Taste is cherry, prunes, other ripe dark fruit notes, red wine, brown sugar and toffee, acetic finish, fruity vanilla and light bourbon lingering in the aftertaste. Syrupy and viscous body. Approaching something like a sour barley wine, not entirely my thing.

75cl, as Bommen & Granaten ’Giovanni’, new exclusive Dutch collab. brew Anno 2013, with Brettanomyces, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex sweet brew, sweet/fruity and slightly alcoholic/vinous, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive!, WOW!

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2014 27.09.2013, tap @ Borefts:
Completely flat. Aroma is kind of strange fruity, hops, canned fruits, oak, butterscotch, citrus. Taste is sweet, canned fruits, dried fruits, sugar, hops, oak, cardboard, honey, grass, cardboard, butterscotch. Very dry mouthfeel even though it’s so sweet. Interesting at most.

Draught at Borefts BeerFest 2013. Clear amber/brown - no head. Dried fruits, bretty notes, caramel, borubon, vanilla, oakey, vineous, citric, barley, sweetness, coconut.

ElManana (2079) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - OCT 19, 2013
Lighter coloured than expected. Strong aroma of dark fruit, fresher berries, sweet brown malts, grapes and a herbal note. The taste is a tat bit diluted though compared to the normal (and extra hopped) versions. You do get a touch of acidity which is interstingly different. Prefer the original(s) though. This one feels like it doesn’t need 15% alcohol. (On tap at Borefts 2013)

Tap at BBF13 - one of my favourites of the festival - hands down. Pours slightly hazy amber with no head (just some bubbles), faint carbonation (in palate as well) and a rich malt and fruit jam nose. Full full body but the slight tartness is really agreeable! Taste is that typical B&M goodness and added with some sweet wine alike flavours (oaky, sweet grape notes, full peachy notes...). Love it!
