Bottled (from biernavigatie). Hazy deep amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is grains, sweet malts, some fruity and floral notes as well as some yeasty and herbal notes. Flavour is sweet hops, some grains, sweet malts as well as some toffeeish notes. Big palate as always from the brewery. A bit strange, but in a good way. Amsterdam. Bottle in my hotel room. Hazy amber beer with a good pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and slightly airy with good minerally sharp carbonation. Light caramel malt, some cream. Great mixture of floral hops and lesser orange, orange marmalade and lemon. Little rye spice. Finishes semi dry with a light fresh orange linger. A delight!
Bottle from Pibar, Lausanne; bottled 31/07/13, hence a bit old; 7.1% ABVTheydon_Bois (21446) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 3, 2013
Amber color, cloudy, with generous frothy head. Aroma of old hops, dry leaf, continental. Highly carbonated; good body strength, with a small residual sweetness; it has some of the character from the rye, some caramel, although the rest reveals an old age; strong bitterness; at least it has a mild fruitiness from the aroma to the taste to the final; the spicy yeast character is too evident.
Good, but another dirty hoppy beer from De Molen.
Bottle (from De Molen Shop) on the 17.56 Brussels - St Pancras, post Borefts ’13, 29/09/13.
Murky amber with a thin off white covering.
Nose is bitter orange, rye, caramel, hops, light soap.
Taste comprises orange pith, light soap, rye evident, orange marmalade, touch of grapefruit, spelt, straw.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish with a little hop bitterness.
Touch too soapy this one which spoils what would have been a reasonable IPA a little.
