Backlog rating. It pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is grassy and piny, with wet soil, pine cones and burnt plastic. Taste is yeasty, piny, tangy, with notes of bread, wet soil, dried leaves, burnt plastic. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, off? mR_fr0g (13492) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 16, 2014
Bottle shared at Chrisso’s May 2014 tasting 25/05/2014. Dark caramel brown coloured pour with a sticky off white head. Aroma is choc powder, spicy pepper, veg and soft roast. Flavour is dark choc, veg, sharp acid, infected. Palate is dusty, acid and musty. Pretty nasty infected beer. Leighton (22304) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2014
Bottle shared at chriso’s May 2014 tasting - London. Pours clear brown with a frothy tan head. The nose has light tangy dark malts and toasted pine. Light sweet flavor with charred malts, rubber, dirt. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Scorched earth on the finish with more char, burnt rubber. Quite astringent. Seems off. Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Light haze on this deep amber beer, fluffy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and light. Nice orangey tang balances mellow dark malts. Light dry malt cream. Light finish. Not that bad!
Bottle @ Chriso May 14 tasting. Pours very dark brown, roasted malts, bitter chocolate, grains, faint citrus, bit more chocolate, resin.. falls a bit short of the mark for me.

Bottle at Chriso. It pours dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet toffee, treacle, candy and orange muffin. The taste is crisp, orange peel, bitter, toasty, earth, resin, lime peel, stale notes, alcohol, earth and high acidity with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Infected/old/both? Not great. harrisoni (19328) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2014

330 ml bottle at home - pours deep brown to light black with a thin light beige head. Subtle aromas of honey, malts, fresh Sugar bread. Light body with heavy toasted malts, gentle hoppy finish. Flavour is burnt caramel, and a slight metally taste. A tad too watery but a fine black IPA imo. Idiosynkrasie (7966) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - AUG 11, 2013
330ml bottle. Hazy dark brown colour with average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Minimally roasty dark malty aroma, hints of bitter chocolate, fruity hoppy overtones with a grapefruit note and hints of orange zest. Taste is chocolately dark malty, grainy with hints of dark bread, dry, minimally metallic overtones with a touch of orange zest. I’m not sure what’s wrong with this: maybe Centennial, Cascade and Columbus hops would do better (admittedly contrary to the idea of a single (dry-)hopped Black IPA), maybe the malt bill should be revised; what we’ve got here is far from a good Black IPA as I would understand it. Tap sample @ Haand Festival 2013. Pours a near-black dark brown body with a small white head. Aroma is meaty sulfuric grassy tones, hints of resin and wet leaves. Weird. Taste is sour-ish yeasty grass, red wine, chocolate, coffee and hints of grape peel. Medium body and carbonation. Utterly weird stuff, and not in a good way. A big miss from De Molen.
