Backlog rating. 33cl bottle at Chriso’s May tasting, London. It pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is medium sweet and yeasty/earthy, with notes of bread, dried leaves, caramel: Taste is roasty, bitter, sour, earthy, roasty, woody, acidic. Light to medium bodied with ok carbonation. Likely infected, again. Overall, question arises: why can’t De Molen brew a decent BIPA. Four messed beers in a row in a single sitting is just too much to be true, awful stuff. madmitch76 (26368) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 13, 2014

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and airy. Mild fine carbonation. Mild dark malts. Little sourish dark chocolate. Light tangy orange peel on the back end. Light coffee and a light dry finish. There is a mild infection in this beer, but it’s really not bothering me too much.
Bottle @ Chriso May 14 tasting. Pours brown, hoppy aroma, malts, weird citrus & red berries, marzipan, moss, forest floor, acidic, prob brewing fault somewhere along the line. Scopey (16227) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2014

Really disappointing beer. The aroma is rather nice, but subtle, but the taste is a bit sour like an old dishwashing rag. Black IPAs are not my favourites but this one was especially bad. Pick aomething else!

330 ml bottle at home - pours deep brown to light black with a thin light beige head. Nutty aroma, a bit tart and dirt, sweet malt. Light watery body with nice roasty notes, flavours are burnt malt and some metal. Not as balanced a sother varieties in this series. Very small rapidly gona beige head.. hazy blackish colour.. smell sweet/sour fruity.. taste bitter at first ends sour.. not at the lvl of other de molen beers.. Countbeer (6589) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - JUL 28, 2013
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Smaller sized but vast and slowly changing ashy off white light beige foamy head on top of a deep dark to black colored beer with a small ruby tint through it.
Aromas of some hops, flowers, roast, chocolate and manure.
The aroma is maybe not much, but pretty nice.
Flavours of roast, chocolate, hops, hop bitters, crispy hop fruits, some coffee, some chalk, a hint of liquorice, hint of malt roast, cream, flowers and fruits like peach, raisin and some apricot.
Aftertaste is bitter, roast, some liquorice, chocolate and crispy hop tones.
Low carbo, soft creamy light silky mouthfeel, medium to lightly fuller body and a creamy light oily texture.
Finally, this is a very nice BIPA from De Molen. Probably kept cool with the right temperature and served with the right temperature. It does a good job! Aniela (4215) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 20, 2013
Bottle at home. Dark brown beer with a medium offwhite head. Hoppy malty aroma. Hoppy, almost a bit sourish flavour.
