Bottle sampled on 6/3/08: Pours a transparent copper bronze with a stringy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel with some mild maize character and light citrusy hops. Body starts fairly full and doughy caramely sweet with a touch of light fruity esters. Finishes crisp and toasty sweet. A nice doppelbock. anders37 (26641) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUN 6, 2009

750ml Bottle: Aroma of malts, nuts, caramel, wood, and hints of chocolate and oak leaves. Poured brown/amber in color with a large, tan/beige head that diminished some some, but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Full of medium-sized particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malts, caramel, nuts, slight tar, slight yeast, and a hint of cocoa. Medium body. Average texture. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, nutty, caramel and malt finish. 8.2%ABV is undetectable. badgerben (5181) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 25, 2009
Dark red color with a medium head. Solid aorma of sweet grains and Munich malt. After warming up a bit, the flavors really stand out. Lots of sweet grain, rich Munich malt flavor, light caramel and a pinch of chocolate. Moderate Noble, floral hop. Quite nice. JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 18, 2009
750 ml bottle purchased at Spuyten Duyvil Grocery. Deep brown/amber beer topped by a thin white head. The aroma has some lightly sweet malts and a distinct, slick aroma of diacetyl. Flavour is just awful. Rancid butter and toffee over a chewy sweetness that makes this unbearable. 15 bucks, down the drain.

750ml shared with argoO and company. Thick brown-amber color. Mellow sweet aroma. Yeasty and rich. Interesting subtle nuances, very complex. Smooth, malty, thick. Sweet sugary aroma. An excellent Dutch beer. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 6, 2009

75cl bottle courtesy of argo0. Hazy amber beer with a lasting head. Rich malty caramel and cherry aroma. Smooth malty flavors of vanilla, caramel, and molasses, with some fruity yeast flavors, but a relatively clean profile. Creamy full body. This was really nice stuff; great balance and mouthfeel with an interesting yeasty component that doesn’t seem very typical for the style. bierkoning (13355) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - FEB 24, 2009
Corked bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, caramel and maple syrup in the arioma. Firm grassy, malty flavor with hints of cinnamon, caramel and dried fruit. No carbon, but that is my fault. I drank the beer within 3 weeks of bottling. Still a good beer and a worthy doppelbock, that shows a lot of promise. Will re-rate sooner or later.
