Reminds me of a belgian dubbel. notalush (5867) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 4, 2009
Doppelbock? - Perhaps my bottle is infected in some way? - pours a hazy amber, with a thick ring of lace - the aroma is of cherry skins, light sourness/earthy character, and undercurrents of acidity, juniper, chocolate - smells almost like a mild flanders red with a light chocolate kick to it - medium carbonation and body - the flavor starts with a mild sour cherry character, raisin, mild acidity - a little bit of caramel sweetness arrives after that, as well a tiny bit of roast - some orangy tang - gets even sweeter in the finish, ending mostly with toffee - starts out like a subdued sour ale, and ends like the doppelbock it’s supposed to be (although it doesn’t taste lagered at all) - this might not be what the brewer intended, but it certainly is interesting. PS - the label also states that this is an ale - perhaps the style listing is incorrect? jrob21 (3663) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - DEC 19, 2008

Is that really Zues on the bottle? Looks way to happy to be a greek god. Anyhoot. Pours a thick dark dark amber & prune color with a 2 finger off white head. Nice aroma of cocoa, caramel, biscuity and has nice undertones of chocolate. Very smooth. I like, I like. ok hear it goes...cocoa, hints of melted caramel notes of chocolate but a little boozy. Lots of flavors pop out in the after taste. Nice body. fairly medium all around. Easily drunk by all. Sammy (12105) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 1, 2008
USA version. Imperial pilsner, not a dubbel at all. Premiant and Saaz hops ar primary taste, drying hops, yet balanced not too bitter. Medium plus mouthfeel. Rather neutral aroma. Drinkable but a 750 ml. is too much.Decent of-white head. SuzyGreenberg (1603) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 31, 2008
750 ml bottle - 2007 on the cork; pours clear, roasty brown with tan head; soapy, rich aromas of caramel, nuts and mild chocolate; drinks very dry and sweet at first sip; texture on the light side, but some cream from the remaining head; kind of a strange beer and very bland on the flavor
