Bottle from kermis shared @ Dean’s Sticky Floor Tasting II. Pours black with a tan head. Gentle aroma of molasses, caramel and vanilla. The taste is mellow, matching the aroma. Absolutely wonderful
Bottle, courtesy of Koelschtrinker. Bottled 9 April 2009. Pours darkest brown. with no head. Aroma is oxidized, booze, cognac barrel, oak, roasted. Body is heavy but not sticky thick, as the oxidation adds some acidity to break the oiliness. A bit milky, too. Nuts, caramel, more roasted flavours in a flat but sweet beer. Boozy too, but never taking the spotlight. One can only wonder what this beer was when it was a little younger. Sweet and flavourful nutty palate. Warming without being overwhelming. Good! Flavor has a mild brownie batter base, dark fruits,molasses, and.... a slight amount of booze which teally shouldnt be here at it’s age. But with 40 year old cognac... ok, Well, I will not be able to track another bottle down, so no matter. If you get it at a reasonable price, pull the trigger.
Totalmente negra, espuma marrom claro de pouca formação mas boa persistência, precisei servir de uma altura acima da média para criar espuma. Aroma intenso de malte torrado, leve defumado, açucar queimado, mais café e cacau do que chocolate, álcool potente. Paladar de dulçor alto seguido de amargor seco torrado, corpo apesar de licoroso tem baixa carbonatação e transmite sensação de aguado em alguns momentos. Lúpulo e leve acidez de folhas verdes aparece mais ao final, longa persistência e intensificação do torrado seco. Já provei melhores no estilo, esperava mais. From a 33cl bottle bought from the brewery, pours black with copperish head. Amazing smell of chocolate and so is the taste. Starts sweet but follows with some bitterness. Taste has prunes and dark chocolate and is very full bodied. Considering its strength, one of these is more than enough. As good for a dessert as a regular beer, if only all stouts tasted like this! Bottle at home after dinner. Pours coffee black with very little foam. An ever so slight ring of head around the glass. On the nose heavy notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts and wood. Something in there reminded me of the smell of dry dog food. Overall pleasant. Taste was big and bold dark chocolate, slight bitter spice and oak wood. Heavy, thick, and calmingly smooth. Aroma has vanilla, coffee and dark chocolate. Prunes. Pours black with a small headthat leaves beautiful lacing. Taste has medium bitterness and medium sweetness. Coffee and dark chocolate. Some salty licorice. Full bodied with average carbonation. Long bitter finish.
