lusikka (7833) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 26, 2011
Draught @ Ølfestival København 2011.
Pours a black colour with a small white head on the edges. Aroma of oak, cherries and some roasted malts. Flavour of roasted malts, well-aged, sour cherries and some pleasant oak notes. Full bodied with a slick mouthfeel and a mouth-drying oaky, slightly sour finish. Nice one even though the cherries are a bit hidden.

At a tasting, Many thanks DSG, pours chocolate color to black with almost no head, aroma of honey, brett, caramel, chocolate, red wine, cherries, wood and nice acidity, flavor is a bit smokey with wood, brett, red wine, caramel, almost no carbonation, relatively dry and sours with some whiskey warmth, bitterness feels low relative to its IBU, full bodied, complex and interesting

Bottle at home. Black pour, no head. Aroma is roasty malts, licorice, varnish, cherries, oak and some chocolate. Flavor is quite roasty bitter, with a hint of brett in the finish. Somewhat rough, no carbonation at all and a bit out of balance. 5,5 months old, but it still needs some more time. Interesting brew though.

Bottle shared at a tasting. Dark brown to black with no head. Vinous aroma of roasted malt, brett, sour cherries and oak. Flavor has a bit of sweetness, toastiness, a bit of chocolate, cherries, berry hints, nice bretty sourness and a bit of bitterness in the finish. Full, silky, flat mouthfeel. A good and complex beer.

bierkoning (13695) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - APR 28, 2011
Bottle. Deep dark brown color, no head. Dark chocolate, roast and Mon Chéri bonbons in the aroma. Hints of bourbon. Almost no carbon. Lots of oak and bourbon in the flavor. Cherry and marzipan coming up. Alcohol, dark chocolate. Ash. Hints of leather. The brett still has to kick in harder. Complex already, could gain a lot with cellaring.

@PWBF 2011. The aroma has roast, sourish cherries, wine, hint of chocolate. Black coloured beer with a beige head. The taste is bitter, has sour brett, roast, fruits, wine, dark malts. Good bodied. Very dry. Full, nice.

ACBF - post fest tasting in Mes&Sims room, thanks to Menno for fetching one of these from the back of his van! Opaque black beer, no real head. Light and pretty dry palate. Dark malt. Bitter herbs with some cherry in the background. The cherry is quite cherry liquer like. Very dry finish with a pinch of spice. Initially struggled with this one but gradually warmed to it. Kicking myself for not purchasing another bottle in the Bier Koning and aging it!

B.C."H.", slowly rising to a beige rim, over black beer with a ruby sheen. Sourish cherry nose, quite fruity and tantalizing burnt notes, hidden underneath; Winey, bitter chocolate and spirit notes, together with pure "Mon Chéri" pralines (cherry & cherryliqueur dark chocolatebonbons). Something mineral as well, vaguely peppery. Very luxuriously full-bodied; slick; obvious alcoholwarming, liqueurish. The sugarcontent makes it really sticky drying up on the lips. Well... congrats! I usually don’t like the stout - cherry combination, but this one...

Bottle 750ml.

[ Trade by Countbeer ]. Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, Menno malt, cherry - brett, moderate hoppy, grapefruit notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, light acidic and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, berries, chocolate, brett notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. A other GOOD beer from Menno >;O)) [20110325]
