Bottle shipped to my place from Borresteijn. Thanks Rob! It pours bit hazy ruby amber with a creamy beige head. The aroma is loads of toasted malty caramel, bread, fruit, apricot and oranges. The flavor is sweet malty and bread like with sweet marmalade, oranges, berries and some warming alcohol. Lovely and well made US style barley wine. Tap at Beer Temple - Amsterdam. Pours clear, rich ruby with a very light, white foam head. Nose is heavy with rich caramel and overripe fruits. Hugely sweet flavor with sticky sugars, caramel, orange, light pine, dates, golden raisins. Full bodied, chewy, with soft carbonation. Moderate warmth to finish with tons of chewy, ripe fruits and big, sticky sugars. Very sweet but also very rich and flavorful. jmgreenuk (9981) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - MAY 10, 2013

Bottle @ ABCBeers, Dean’s scared of beer tasting. Hazy copper pour, thin off-white head. Aroma is spicy malts, loads of caramel, sugary malts. Flavor is spicy sugary malts with a huge body. Impressive and well brewed. Made for sipping, but could sip the whole night. Jur (468) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle from Arendsnest, Amsterdam (thx Peter).
Pours clear orange-yellow, little white head. Rhubarb nose, yeasty and alcohol. Fruity taste (stone fruits, blood orange), malts, yeast, alcohol all well balanced with a hoppy finish. Quite nice. Countbeer (6599) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 4, 2013
Vanilla yellow colored minimal and airy foamy head. Changes quick in some bubbles on top of a hazy ruby red colored beer.
Aromas of raisin, barleys, oatmeal, dogfood, some light and creamy spices, some hops and a hint of someone who has been to a festival without washing him/her-self for a couple of days...
Flavours of barleys, cream, spices, rye, hint of alcohol, warmth, alcoholic and sticky peach, malts, peach, mango, some pepper, some bitters, herbs and yeast.
Aftertaste sticky, warm, barley malts, light floral and bitter.
Low to no carbo, silky mouthfeel, more full than medium body and a creamy oily texture.
With a bit of air and time it seems to get better and better. Alcohol is pretty well hidden and this pretty easy drinkable. fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2012

Cloudy amber color; small head, but persistent. The aroma is full and malty, with light fudge, very Thomas Hardy’s like; later there is a very light cheesy impression. Full bodied barley wine, with very good malt flavor, some fudge, rich, sweet, round; light nutty touch; the bitterness is quite elevated, surely balanced; and the warming alcohol is a pleasant complement.
A bit more American than the classic Thomas Hardy’s Ale, more intriguing than all the American hop monsters.
33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Almost clear dark ruby amber colour, dense orange/yellow-ish head. Aroma of bitter oranges, clementines, some citrus, leafy hops, sweet malts. Flavour is quite sweet, malty, sugar, bitter oranges, firm but smooth hoppy bitterness, a bit of toasted malts, firm bittter finish. Full-bodied, smooth, a tad too sweet imo. Not my favourite style of beer, but this is quite good. Cheers Thomas, always enjoyed having a beer and a chat during your shifts, good luck on the study!
