Grima (2511) - Merzkirchen, RLP, - FEB 26, 2012
The beer in the glass is very dark brown, almost black, with a fine creamy head. It smells strongly coffee, with plenty of roasted malt, peat, toffee and chocolate. Starts with a lot of chocolate and roasted malt, lots aromas of roasted coffee, with some caramel in the background, overall very sweet. The middle part shows a lot of burnt malts, combined with sweet chocolate and coffee. In the finish properly roasted malty, again with burnt malts and a slight berry-hoppy note. Awesome Porter!

Bottled 0,33L. Dark brown color with good bubbly and very elegant foamy and voluminous nut head of long head. Creamy and compact foam. Softly roast cereals and malt aroma, medium ashed and braced wood nose. Mouth is moderate bitter, pleasant and equilibrate alcoholic impact, moderate braced corn and cortex final.

Too bitter for me. I can only consume this one with something sweet like chocolate or pie. Then it makes a perfect combination.

Zlotta (4148) - Hagen, GERMANY - SEP 16, 2017
0.33 l bottle from 'Rudat', bottled in March 2017. Dark brown to black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and a little resiny aroma of caramel, milk chocolate and hazelnut with a touch of pine. Moderately sweet, malty, quite roasty taste of milk chocolate, coffee, licorice, some hazelnut and hints of ash, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, rather earthy-dry finish. Medium body, creamy and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very good Porter, great balance, must have been long ago since I have had such a well-executed example of this style.
