2008 Vintage 75 cl. bottle/shared@Kulminator: bottle nr. 271/384: dark brown with a ruby hue & egg-white head, smell is despite the age an explosion of American, lots of grapefruit & pine, underneath there is a malty & caramely sweetness, taste is bitter but also very fruity including lots of grapefruit but also some grapefruit, berries, pineapple, sweet lemons, caramel malt sweetness buried underneath, bitter aftertaste, pine, I am also getting some sourness in the aftertaste & ome brett, not sure if it is intentional, this is halfway between a barleywine & a IIPA MaartenRF10 (1950) - Wageningen, NETHERLANDS - FEB 18, 2013
To celebrate today’s star for a day (shivandragon) I’ve just opened a vintage 2009 Heil & Zegen. It poors a very dark red amber colour with a big lasting beige head leaving a beautiful lace. Slightly hazy. The aroma is great. After four years there’s still a very good hop aroma of sweet fruit. Taste is just perfect, warming bittersweet hops with fruits like lychee, peach and red fruit. There’s hints of caramel and wood. Great body and nice carbonation. Top beer! MrGGen (334) - ITALY - JUN 21, 2009

Very dark beer which looks more like porter (or even stout) than IPA.
Nice hops smell, and even more hops flavour in the mouth. Very well balanced bitterness, maltiness and alcohol. Long bitter and hoppy afertaste.
I love that hops flavour and the balance - definitely, one of my favourite beers. Beeronaut (176) - Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - FEB 28, 2010
Superb Beer. Looks excellent in the glass deep red with a touch of haze, tan sticky looking head., huge aroma of spice, wild strawberries, toffee, caramel, treacle, liquorice, hops, orange - it just go’s on an on. Palate is instantly mouth coating with big hops up first, tonnes of dried fruit, apricot, more treacle, some mineral earthy motes, all the aromas follow through on to the palate except the strawbs perhaps. Lots of spicy chunky malt with a lovely warmth from the booze within, but not at all over powering abv-wise. Finish is long with lots of marmaladey treacle and some very well played hops making for great balance between bitter and sweet. Just a fantastic beer, and after having it at least 5 or more times I can safely say one of my all time favourites. De Molen are indeed, Righteous!

Dissapointing on the appearance. Very good dry hops. Lemony dry aftertaste. A little sour element among the amarrilo hops. Just a solid IPA. Caramel malt and citrus hops. Alcohol not over top but don’t down this baby. Menno, a pleasure! Love this. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2013
Bottled 30/12/13. (2009 vintage) A dark dark brown coloured beer with a little grey wispof head. A big beer for sure. Thick and gloopy sticky in the mouth. Lots of hops, lots of malts which edge towards sweetness. Lingering fruitiness. Chocolate and licorice. Vinuous. Big grapefruit mid swallow. A lovely beer, More a Barley Wine than a IIPA for me but so what it’s good. bierkoning (13387) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - DEC 15, 2008
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2009 Corked bottle 89 of 384. 10,8%, 92,6 EBU. Dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Malt, hopoil and grapefruit in the strong aroma. Initial malty sweetness attacted and overpowered by an intense dry bitterness with loads of fruit. Grapefruit, pineapple, red berries. lemon cake. Piney, intensely hopbitter aftertaste. A touch of alcohol, but well balanced. Can compete with the very best of American DIPAs
Re-rate, tasted in feb 09. This beer matures very well. Ober (2812) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - DEC 25, 2008
75 cl Bottle 004 of 384. A hazy dark red/brown colored beer, with thick beige head. The aroma of many fruits, malts and a lot of hops. The taste is complex, fruits like grapes, pineaapple and berries. Also a little liquorice juice. There is a lot of hop bitter. When the beer gets warmer, there are notes of prunes. The aftertaste is very long hop bitter. I wish, I can find another bottle and can keep it for several years. TrefwoordPunk (1247) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - JAN 8, 2009
Corked 75 cl. bottle 219 of 384. Pours a muddy brownish red with a medium off-white head and a very appealing aroma of strong hoppy bitternes, mixed spices, cookies, grapes, apples, prunes, berries, caramel and sweet malts. The taste is a sweet base, sweet malts, fruits and liquorice. Besides this sweetness their is an ovewhelming amount of hops and hoppy bitterness in here. The finish is a very longlasting hoppy bitterness. A really nice brew
