33cl bottle from Mikkeller & Friends bottleshop. Black pour with lovely mocha head that goes the distance. Lovely dark fruits and licorice on the nose - touches of coffee, slightly fruity and vanilla-driven whiskey notes in there too. Smooth vanilla-heavy whiskey in the taste, big roasted malt, plums, figs, dark chocolate, light roast coffee, more licorice, big brown sugar. Tiny touch of booze. Full bodied and velvety. A bit of an earthy hop bite to finish, lingering fruity whiskey and dark fruits. Great stuff. fiulijn (21506) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 19, 2013
Bottle n. 0679 from the De Molen shopJapalo (1887) - DENMARK - SEP 3, 2013
Black color with generous head. The aroma is initially very nice with a whiskey impression, but less interesting later with a vinous touch along dusty and milky roasted malts. Good body strength and smooth mouthfeel, not thick; strong flavor of roasted malts, some dry dark chocolate shavings, and a pleasant whiskey character; strong bitterness, and the alcohol too is quite strong; evident liquorice in the end.
Excellent as usual.

Maybe tasted at CBC;). Half finger foam. Dark brown. Low carbonation. Intense molasses pine phenol raisin prune notes. Menthol nosefell. Great soft oily mouthfell. Gentle sweet. What an exceptionel meal and complex brew. Love it.
Poured deep brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of roast malt, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee. Full body, flavour of sweet caramel, roast malt. Might cellar a bottle and see how it develops after a couple of years. Cool_Bond (2844) - KUNG_AV_OL @ Instagram, SWEDEN - SEP 2, 2013
Way too heavy taste and odor of alcohol. This beer is not drinkable. Unfortunately, that is. Heavy aftertaste too. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

On tap. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste like aroma but adds vanilla, wood and booze. Sweet and pleasant with a little bit of bitterness in the finish. Full bodied. Overall very good - the barrel ageing is very balanced. Definitely one I'd drink again.

33cl Bottle from De Molen Beershop. Black colour, light-brown head. Aroma of loads of booze in the beginning, bourbon, sweet soy sauce, hard roasted - ashy - malts, molasses, coffee, chocolate. Flavour is sweet, less boozy than expected apart from the slight burn in the finish, bourbon, oak, soy sauce, molasses, coffee, hard roasted malts, firm bitter roasted malts in the finish. Full-bodied. Good, just a touch from great. This one really needs to mellow out a bit more imho, although I usually like RIS’s fresh. KyotoLefty (10808) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 29, 2013
