33cl, Bottle N626, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2013, from De Molen Beershop Bodegraven, very complex Stout, roasted/woody and slightly alcoholic/spicy, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, small head, top class!, yet expensive!

Bottle, many thanks to Kermis for helping me slay this H&V tick. Opaque black pour with rich creamy brown foam. Aroma of whisky, really rich chocolaty aromas, a bit smoky, anise aromas, roasty. Taste is rich, tons of chocolate, nice spirit flavors. Palate is chewy, sweet but with good carbonation to cut through. Super tasty.

Bottle (330 ml). #635. Shared by JulienHuxley, thanks! Pitch black with a medium beige head and heavy lacing. Aroma is of fudge along with vanilla, roasted malt, toffee, light fruity notes, whisky, light smoke and hints of alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet and again quite fudge forward along vanilla, whisky, roasted malt, toffee, light fruits (less than aroma) with a touch of smoke and a light warming finish. Full body. Moderate carbonation. Velvety mouthfeel. Very complex and quite enjoyable. One of my favorite from the Hel & Verdoemenis series. Balance is pretty good and alcohol is well hidden for 13% abv. Delicious.

03.04.2014, 0,33l bottle (#300) @ home:
Nice light brown dense creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich, dark malts, cognac, oak, licorice, dark sugar, dark chocolate, vanilla, burnt caramel, dark fruits, cocoa nibs. Taste is rich and very balanced, dark malts, oak, cognac, dark chocolate pudding, licorice, vanilla, caramel, dark sugar, cocoa nibs, coffee, old rope. Medium bitterness, very smooth slightly dry and syrupy mouthfeel. Very nice, but I think I remeber the regular one as much better.

Poured deep brown with a frothy beige head. Aroma of roast malt, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee. Full body, flavour of sweet caramel, roast malt. Might cellar a bottle and see how it develops after a couple of years.

Martinus (4562) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - NOV 29, 2013
Clear black colour, red hue, firm tan head. Aroma of whisky, bourbon, vanilla, wood, mocha coffee, light chocolate. Light woody flavour, dark chocolate, liquorice, bourbon-like whisky. Thick creamy body, finish bourbon, wood, alcohol, chocolate, hint of tar. Very smooth and balanced, yet still quite bold flavours. Definitely a beer thats defending the De Molen grandeur in style.
(From 33cL bottle @ home. Bottle 0202. Thanks for the bottle, SecretSinterklaas, aka biersint)
