From bottle #835 @ Stoutsøndag, shared by Vindueskigger. Thanks a lot! Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Aroma of heavy roasted malts, light salty and liqourice, light woody, light raisins, cheese. Taste is salty, light soy, liqourice, woody, roasted as f*ck, notes of coffee, some sweet notes with vanilla and dark chocolate but nothing too clawing. Old school impy, but well balanced. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - AUG 30, 2016
[12/08/2013] Bottle from De Molen Online Beershop: Inviting pure black body with no head. Nose is toasty, roasty, malts, nuts and woodchips soaked in cocna. Taste is similar: very roasty, malts, caramel and great spicy flavors. Oily texture. Just really nice. neongolden (1860) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 27, 2016
(Sample on tap @ Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade, May 12 2016) Pours black with a dark beige head and spotty lace. Aroma of semisweet chocolate, vanilla, heavy roast, burnt wood, whiskey, coffee and dark fruit. Flavour is medium sweet and quite heavily bitter, with chocolate, lots of vanilla, whiskey, burnt coffee grounds, roasted grain, dark fruits and oak. Back end has a fair amount of roast and char with light hops for bitterness. Long aftertaste to it. Full bodied, creamy carbonation. Super balance. Tried to order one and got a second DL variant glass instead, thanks to a kind soul for offering some of his. ciocanelu (3026) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - MAY 17, 2016
Pitch black color with no head. Aroma has big bourbon and peated whiskey. Taste is also slightly peated but mostly has sweet bourbon, caramel and the finish is bitter with dark coffee flavor. Medium body with the right amount of carbonation for the style. Really good version of H&V. mariuspoenari (2999) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAY 16, 2016
On tap at Mikkeller Bar, pre-CBC. Pitch black with no head. Bourbon, whiskey, coffee, chocolate, licorice. Full bodied with a sticky-sweet aftertaste.
