12 oz Bottle, This one has been on the bucket list for awhile. I decided to crack it for an epic tasting. Pours a pitch black cola with small beige head. Lacing was medium. Huge aromas of soaked wood, cognac, roasted coffee and malts, cocoa powder, butter toast, and dark fruit. Taste is bitter chocolate, charred oak, mollases, fig, vanilla beans. Pretty drinkable for a de molen stout, not that syrupy. Intoxicating. phaleslu (10895) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 5, 2012
330 ml bottle brought back from Europe by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Pours a deep, opaque coffee brown with a small khaki head. The bottle has a cool label, with the typical De Molen font on white on one side and a black pentagram label on the other. No number in the slot that says "No.", though. Aroma of nuts, brown sugar, toast, oak, tobacco, roasted malts, and cognac. Way more mellow on the cognac than the Tsarina Esra Cognac. Flavor of roasted malts, caramel, oak, cognac, earth, nuts, and coffee. Medium-bodied, with a roasty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Excellent, subtle, and smooth. Bottle. Celebratory beer for a professional milestone. Very dark brown pour with a reddish brown head. Rich aroma of roasted coffee and wood. Taste is very rich roasty malts, boozy sweetness is present. Good stuff. JK (6342) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - JUN 26, 2012
Very dark brown. Sweet malt and alcohol aroma. Flavor has some alcohol, but it is well balanced with the sweetness. Minimal hops. Thick and rich palate. Huhzubendah (3775) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 26, 2012

The beer appears dark brown with a thin, beige head. The aroma is absolutely fantastic. 40 year old cognac barrels...wow. Loving this. Roast and spirits with subtle notes of barrels. Simply fantastic beer. Phenomenal feel with alcohol content a non factor. What a treat. Highly recommended.

Bottle @ Monks Wallingatan. Dark brown colour with a small head. Sweet fruity aroma. Flavour of roasted chocolate. pushkinwow (2961) - Ottawa, CANADA - MAY 22, 2012
33cl bottle from Kamiel - one of the versions I was most looking forward to. Midnight brown with a mocha head that fades from a one finger cover to a light ring around the outside of the glass. Roasted sweet malts, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, bit of leather / smoke, some alcohol but I don’t have the palate to say that its cognac. Moderately high carbonation, full body, somewhat sweet with a hint of bitterness (reminds me of a slightly sweet but cold turkish coffee), silky and oily texture, alcohol becomes more present on the finish, along with the sweetness becoming dominant. Very tasty. Mortlach (2532) - Rome, ITALY - APR 20, 2012
20/04/2012 180ml bottle, shared by Matt (thanks 50belair!). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma color cappuccino, abbastanza abbondante e persistente.
Sample at ÖÖWF 2011. It poured a pitch black liquid with a pale brown head. Smell and taste of chocolate, coffee, wood and whisky. Very nice and complex. _angst_ (5009) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 7, 2012
330 ml bottle bought @ Bierkompass.de. Pours dark mahogany brown, almost black, with a creamy brownish white head that slowly dissipates without leaving much trace. Smell is sweet and malty with dark bread, coffee, bitter chocolate, wood, wet earth and hints of smoke, brandy and metal. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny metallic with roasted malts, wet earth, sweetened coffee, orange zest, plums, raisins, cognac, wood and hints of milk chocolate and liquorice fudge. Mouthfeel is smooth, slightly creamy and full bodied. Finish is bitter and sweet with coffee, chocolate, wood, resin, vanilla and hints of cognac.
