330ml bottle courtesy of Benzai. Thanks. Pours a jet black with a small tan head that soon fades to a fine ring. The aroma is strong with red wine grapes, and dark chocolates. The taste is chocolate covered cherries. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes medium in duration and bittersweet. Overall: just amazing. Bottle at home, 27th December 14. This beer was bottled, 6th November 14 and is only stated as 10%. It’s black, aroma is vinous, slightly sour, liquorice. Taste is vinous, coffee, slight chocolate, wood, the Bordeaux is a distinctive wine and the flavour comes through with the barrel and complements the base beer. Excellent barrel ageing, de Molen rule the world on this style DwarfeD (3540) - Amersfoort, NETHERLANDS - NOV 15, 2014
Bottle at De Molen. Dark brown with almost no head. Full syrupy body with low carbanation. Quite sweet with some nice bitter tones. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, raisin, wood, some vinous tones, herbs and spices. A nice full flavoured brew. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 15, 2014
Nip bottle, dated 9/21/10. Poured black with a short dusting of tan head. The aroma picked up lots of burnt coffee malts, red vinous notes, and oak, with quite a bit of oxidation evident.. came across just a touch stale. The flavor found similar.. burnt black malts, coffee, and ashy malts at the core with oxidation, vinous notes, and peppery alcohol laced throughout.. finished with more tart vinous notes, burnt coffee, and peppery notes. Heavier-bodied, but without sufficient carbonation.. felt like flat cola at times.. spiciness and boozage were sufficient. gam (4037) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUN 8, 2014
