Pours a black color. Aroma of mocca. Taste of coffee, plums, a little sweet. Great brew.

> Volatile but successful Islay Scotch and coffee version of this classic

[ Bottle ][ Etre Gourmet ][ 33cl ][ $20 ][ Woodshop Snifter ][ 3/22/14 ]
>> Pours clear sepia, weak but present yellowish foam. Tahnkfully not flat like some other H&V BA variants. Nose is muted smoke, savory meat, coffee, real maple syrup, brown alcohol. Assertive. Taste is bitter coffee, rich dark chocolate, no sugary sweetness or tomato, spicy, coffee liquor..Kahlua. Low formaldehyde style "smoke" from the Islay Scotch barrel that has ruined many a beer. Slightly anesthetic. Powerful espresso bitterness. Pretty nice one overall, successful. As it gets flat and warms up, the formaldehyde takes over only with more soil. Not really drinkable anymore.

>!< Don’t allow the carbonation to die and oxidize, low carbonation, formaldehyde is retrained but breaks through as it warms

Draught @ 5th Borefts Beer Festival 2013, Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands.

[ As De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis (Bowmore) ].
Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy - virtually none, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, smoke - peat, chocolate, light coffee. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, coffee, chocolate, peat. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20130927]

Deep black with small tan head. Light smoke, thick chocolate, espresso, tart berries, vanilla, wood, nuts, tiny hint of wasabi and chili. Big sweetness with tartness in the middle and burnt bitter finish. Thick, syrupy body, light carbonation. Massive beer!

CraftBeerNick (2547) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 8, 2014
Bottle at home, 8th March 14. Peaty, whiskey aroma, pours flat, palate good for the style, but thiner for the whiskey. Taste is not subtle, loads of whiskey, too much to start, mellows as it goes on and warns, unfortunately the whiskey out paces the other complexities of the stout, there is some oak, wood, not a lot more, still a lovely drink

Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 1, 2014
Bottle at home. Pitch black pour, thin tan head. Aroma is roasted, vanilla, peat, leather, slightly burnt malts, licorice, tar and loads of whisky. Flavor is very bitter, burnt and roasted, but still remarkably smooth. Thick body, very low carbonation and quite silky. Great brew.
