Small brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer.
Aromas of iodine, ash, peat, roast, coffee, wood roast/campfire coal, smoke, tar, liquorice and vinously burned wood.
Flavours of of chocate, coffee, earth, spices, iodine, bitters, wood, smoke, peat, spicy, , wood roast, some light liquorice tints, sweet wood, sweet tar, coal, oak roast, light vinous, dark roasted fruit, some pepper, smoke and bandage.
Aftertaste is bitter, spices, coffee, iodine, some chocolate, some wood and some coal.
Low carbo, silky mouthfeel, full body and a creamy oily texture.

Bottle. Black pour, no head. Aroma is very smoky, definitely some intense bowmore character, wood, molasses. Taste is really whisky-like, hot, smoky, woody, roasty. Palate is a bit thin bodied, medium carbonation. A bit too harsh, lacks the nice chocolaty body of regular BA Hel & Verdoemenis. Still quite interesting. Chocolate! Coffee. Lingering aftertaste with licorice. Warm. Gets overall taste after a while. Very nice.

Bottled, dated sept 16th 2013, large sample. Dark color, short brown lacing. Aroma of peat, leather, roasted malts, hint of iodine, some dark chocolate. Lots of peat, again, a bit too much for my liking, but I was into a peaty beer at the moment, so its ok. Initially full bodied taste of chocolate, but quickly overwhelmed with the dry and smoked/peated notes of bowmore. The usually pretty big base beer is overwhelmed by the peat and seems to be at the edge of balance, although all this comes to personal taste a lot. For me, I love to see a bit more chewy sweetness to counteract the dry and peaty notes and/or a bit less whisky. Bottle from de Molen webshop, 11/20/2013. Pours black, thin swirly head rests momentarily before dying down. Aroma is dark bitter chocolate, sweet and thick, heavy char and smoke, peat, subtle fruity caramel whiskey. Taste is moderately sweet chocolate, sharp bitterness and whiskey with smokey finish. Courtesey of Kraddel. 33 cl. bottle split by 2 @ Rampkrot. Bottled on 16/09/2013. Ruby black with no head. Nose is peated, lots of glue, lots of earth, malt & more earth. Taste is sweet peat, pure earth, flat coffee, bitter herbs, sweet earthly, lots of peat, bitter earth, herbs, bitter roots, herbal,… Almost no carb. Okay but more can be expected from De Molen in this direction.
