Bottle sampled at RBSG ’08. This impy stout pours with a black body topped by a medium thick, brown head with a good amount of lacing on the glass. It’s sligthly sweet and amlty with lots of raosted coffee notes, a little chocolatey goodness and a light bitterness. Full bodied and slightly dry yet smooth. mgumby10 (1856) - Jupiter, Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2008
Pours pitch black, with a small off white head. The smell is of pretty rich chocolate mixed with heavy roast and a touch of some coffee as well. The flavor is much of the same. The chocolate seems to be the main aggressor in this brew as it mixes with the 10% alcohol to give a little warming heat as it eases down th throat. The finish has a bitter roastiness to it that I quite enjoyed as well. Pretty damn good impy here. Hadnt even heard of it before RBSG. Glad I got to try it. Bottle, shared by miver. Thanks Joe! Pours black with a tan head. Nose of heavily roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, char, and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is more cocoa, roasted malt, char, and alcohol. Slightly vinous mouthfeel with a slight alcohol burn in the finish. Good stuff. egajdzis (6856) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 4, 2008
Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, light smoke, dried fruits, and a bit of warming alcohol. Taste of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, charred wood, some dark fruits, and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Thanks to miver for sharing this! harrisoni (19704) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 4, 2008

Bottle at Århus Ølfestival 2008. Pours a deep muddy black with a small brownish head. The aroma is FANTASTIC - I sniffed it for minutes, and actually wanted to eat it more than drink it :o) It is nutty with chocolate, liquorice, fruit and some viniousness. Flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, liquorice, nuts and vinious - a very very good beer. bager (2120) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2008

Bottle 75cl @ home by De Molen pre tasting before Ølfestival Aarhus with Menno.jbrus (4988) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - JUN 15, 2008
Clear dark red brown almost black color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dusty, roasted, dark chocolate, wood, oak - peat, smoke, moderate yeasty and hoppy, pine. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is oily oily - syrupy and very thick, carbonation is soft to flat. This is realy the best of the begian style and the danish imprial stouts .. Very good work Menno. A glas of this is nice but a bottle is much better it gettes better and better. ;o)) (150508)

re-rate: This stuff, like many beers of De Molen, is amazing on tap! Would have given it a 5 but the score is the average between bottle and tap. [email protected]
Black chocolate, coffee, black currant and a hint of smoke in the aroma. Opague color, light brown firm head, very nice lace. Sweet, pretty bitter, loads of chocolate, coffee, black currant and a bit sugary. Thick, full, light dry in the finish.
Corked bottle at Ølfestival 2008, Århus
Very dark brown color. Medium aroma strength, mild Imperial Stout, with some cardboard. Very good body, sweet; all the flavors are well combined together: caramel, malt, a lot of chocolate, delicate roasted malt... And a good bitterness too. Very well brewed.
