Licorice in the bottle. Surprisingly no coffee, mostly dark chocolate, hint of vanilla, raisins, soy sauce, dates and licorice. Same continues in the taste and palate. First little bit sweetness and then bitterness takes over, but same time beer is really balanced. Goes well with dark chocolate and nuts.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 15/04/41!!! REALLY!? Inky black body, small tan ring of foam hangs about. Rich aroma - dark chocolate, burnt toffee, cold drip coffee, charcoal, black berries & currents. Body is immense - thick, syrupy, low carbonation, slick, oily, velvet-like, booze is well integrated. Shifts up a gear on the palate - very sweet upfront, bags of dark chocolate, licorice, burnt toast, charred meat, plums & blackcurrant & blueberry, coffee grinds, some spicy hop character toward the finish with plenty of bitterness, long, lingering warming. A formidable brew indeed!

EBC 297 EBU 102. Zwart bier met grote beige/bruine schuimkraag. Geur: koffie, geroosterde mout. Smaak: plakkerig zoet en bitter + iets medicinaal en alcoholisch. Weinig koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: bitter en koffie met veel suiker.

glennmastrange (2743) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - DEC 4, 2016
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2016 Bottle. Moderate to heavy toasted, dark chocolate and molasses for the malt, moderate resin for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with notes of wood, whiskey, vanilla and prune in the background. Head is tiny and bubbly, with no lacing, but good legs, and is fully diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic, and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is full, oily, with a soft carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. Very bold and rich Imperial Stout with a bit of a bite on the tongue.

[email protected], Tampere, Finland. Strong, balanced and high quality product with nuances of roasted malts, dark berries and chocolate, some licorice and a hint of wood. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, great product with nice balance between malty and sweet aromas. A bit light mouthfeel and slightly simple.

An appropriate beer for my 666th rating :)
330ml bottle (bottled 03-10-2014 / BB 03-10-2039). Pours jet black with a thin brown head disappearing immediately. Aroma: chocolate, vanilla, raisins. Taste: roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, raisins/dried fruits/berries, liquorice. Initially sweet finishing with bitterness, alcohol is well integrated and warming. Lovely smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, low carbonation. Incredible beer, an instant favourite.

Bottle - Aroma is strong sweet chocolate candy. Taste is strong but the sweetness from the aroma is nowhere to be found in the taste. Dark malts and slight bitterness rule the palette. The aroma promised a lot which sadly the taste coupd not backup. Having had a few pints of draught too, I know this to be a good RIS. Tap better than bottle ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Carpe craft, Toruń Znakomity, palono-kawowo-czekoladowy aromat, gdzie chyba kawa gra pierwsze skrzypce. Smak to przede wszystkim potężne ciało i kawa wysunieta przed czekoladę i paloność.

Aroma of coffee and caramel. Dark color with little head. Flavor of chocolate and fruit. Long finish.
