UPDATED: JAN 16, 2012 June 2010 12 oz bottle, tasted 07/22/2011. Re-rated 01/16/2012. Pours black with thin tan foam lacing, little head. Nose is rich chocolate, dark roasted malts and coffee, with notes of toffee and vanilla on the periphery. Taste carries some sweet chocolate, light fruity elements (dark cherries, prunes), bitter roasted coffee, alcohol in the finish. Palate is thick and full, creamy, with pleasant carbonation backing up the flavor. A sipper for sure. Overall great, the creamy mouthfeel and super rich flavors really do it for me. Re-rating much the same, but bumped up palate.

Listed as verde. Probably this. Not sweet at all. Maybe some sweet is okay. Yummyish.

12oz bottle courtesy of Beerman6686/ Pours a medium stout brown with a tan head. Nose is fudge, peppercorns, cocoa, booze, earth, and earthy spice. Flavor is similar with earth, dark chocolate, gin, peppercorns, booze, and slight smoke, peat maybe. Flavor is dark and complex. Medium in body and lingering pepper into the finish.

Bottle shared by Thorpe recently served side by side by side with Misto B.A. and Wild Turkey versions, quite a cool thing to do. Beer is black with a big tan head (might be a tiny bit over carbonated here). Head sticks around too long too, it becomes a barrier to the beer. Some lacing left behind, heavily carbonated. The aroma is roasty with a mild sweetness to it. The roast wins out over the sweetness though. Out of the three this was the least interesting but it still had some nice flavors. The body was thinned otu by the carbonation artificially but there was a lot of roast at the back, a mild sweetness up front and the finish wasnt bittered with hops but with a kind of chocolate / coffee bitterness. Finish is dry. Overall it is fine. Serving type: bottle

12 ounce bottle thanks to Santa. Pours a wonderful black color with a very thick beige head. A sweet hoppy and roasted nose, initially the hops were huge. The flavor is great; sweet vanilla, smoke, earthiness, rich dark fruits, metallic hops, a very viscous body. Leaves with a very bitter roast finish. Sweet and close to very sugary. Quite big.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2012 330 ml bottle bought @ Cracked Kettle and consumed on January 5. Pours oily pitch black with a creamy light brown head that slowly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is intense malty sweet with roasted malts, liquorice, soy, dark chocolate, fudge, vanilla, alcohol and peat. Taste is bitter with heavily roasted malts, slightly salty liquorice, peat, tar, very dark coffee, bitter chocolate and lots of wood. Finish is slightly sweet and quite bitter with freshly cut wood.

Bottle. It pours black with a lasting tan head. Lots of chunks quickly settle to the bottom of the glass. The aroma is rich with chocolate, molasses, tobacco and coffee. The flavor has lots of black licorice, tobacco, coffee, raisins, molasses and caramel. The finish is very bitter and roasted. The body is decadent. A great imperial stout.

A deep black silky pour, with a very thin brown head. Good lacing on the glass. Beautiful roasted malt, chocolate, liquor from the barrels. Meaty, full bodied stout that coats the mouth beautifully, slightly dry and bitter. Chocolate and liquor comes through in spades with flickers of coffee and citrus. I had this after a Rasputin stout and this is even better again. Super stuff De Molen, pure class. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
