Pour dark brown, with a small and quickly fading head. daje (4548) - NORWAY - JUL 5, 2012
Aroma has plenty of coffee. Also licorice, chocolate, smoke, roasted malts, oatmeal.
Taste is pretty sweet, with some slight roasted bitterness to it.
Medium and slight oily body, with a pretty flat carbonation.
Bottle, probably from Vika. ferit (180) - Schleswig-Holstein, GERMANY - JUL 4, 2012
Massive black body, large staying beige robust head.
Aroma of dried fruits, malt, chocolate and sherry.
malty taste with chocolate, coffee, hops, alcohol. Very dry, I loved this one
With the Rasputin maybe the best beer from De Molen. Intense flavour, caramelish, a little chocolate, coffee and a good balance. For the lovers of dark beer. mutz (1125) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 1, 2012
Bijna zwarte kleur en een kraag die in het begin vol en vast is, maar redelijk snel verdwijnt. Aroma van koffie, caramel en verbrand hout. Smaakt caramellig, koffie, aangebrand. Behoorlijk wat body. Lekker bier. Huhzubendah (3762) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 29, 2012
A: Dark brown, very little head and no lacing.
dutchtuga (146) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUN 26, 2012
S: Subtle roasted malts, alcohol.
T: The first thing I noticed about this beer is that it is in many ways out of character for a RIS. While it is decent beer, it is not nearly as rich and flavorful as I was hoping.
M: Ok feel, low carbonation. Warming alcohol finish.
D: Eh...I’ve had much better, though this is an interesting beer. It has its own thing happening. Worth a try.

Dark brown, almost black with small brown foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is toffee, like the taste. Little bitter taste and aftertaste. (Velp 201206)

Via trade with UncleRudy. The aroma is chocolate, roast, licorice, molasses, Normal aroma for the style. The appearance is typical, black, light tan head, head is very strong. The flavor is roast, dark chocolate, molasses. The finish is roast, pine, resin. Medium in body, creamy mouthfeel. The alcohol is almost completely hidden. Very good, not as good as its ratings suggest. Thanks, Mike. reggiedunlop (3726) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2012
Pours black with a few dark mocha bubbles but no real head to speak of...light sediment...looks lifeless. Aroma has some sweet coffee and dark chocolate, a bit of dark fruit, tobacco, and walnut. Flavor has walnut, coffee, and a bit of ash...charred wood. Mouthfeel is medium and lifeless...finish is bitter and has espresso and charred wood. This bottle was a year cellared...no chance of it being worth a damn after the 25 yrs they claim. Waste of $. ElDesmadre (3630) - Mikołów, POLAND - JUN 1, 2012
Bottle, from a trade with Bierkoning. Almost black with a creamy head. The aroma is nothing short of impressive. Mellow, deep and rich, even the alcohol is fantastically balanced. Very intense aroma of coffee and dark chocolate, wood and cork (even without the barrel aging), port wine and cherries. Roasted yet mellow, vinous yet not acidic. Absolutely fantastic. Thick, oily, chewy mouthfeel - I have yet to find a brew that would be more condensed than this one. Deep, rich, intensive flavour that stays mellow and classy, without a sharp or aggressive touch. The equilibrium of chocolate, vinous, roasted and woody elements is mindblowing, making way for a coffee-filled finish with some marginal earthy notes and a strong though not overbearing bitterness that is further balanced by the evident sweetness of this masterful brew. Absolutely brilliant!
