Black with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, woody and ashy. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Smooth and oily. Fantastic palate. 260911

Wow! Incredibly foamy pour (I know how to pour but this thing was just insane!) A nice chocolate colour. Sweet coffee aroma, magnificent sweet flavour for a stout, very, very good.

From the bottle (bottled 22 June 2011) poured black with no head. Roasted with plenty of chocolate, malt, and vanilla to round it out. Smooth, almost too much so. Alcohol is completely masked. Overall: more thickness and a more distinct aroma would be an improvement but its still not one to pass up.

Courtesy of rlgk. Pours pitch black with a minimal tanned head. Aroma is roasted, sweet, fruity, dry and earthy. Flavor is sweet, pungeant, acidy, meaty, peaty, bitter and dry. Finishes dry bitter and malty.

Bottle shared by BDR (Thanks!) Very dark black pour, little carbonation and rich peaty sweet and slightly hoppy aroma. Rich and slightly creamy malt, a little vanilla sweetness, smoke, spicy and a bit hot on the finish. Really dug this one, I have to imagine this would be great aged!

Bottle @ home. Thick, deep black appearance with a brown head. Very roasty, slightly burnt, chocolate malty, espresso, light vanilla aroma. Very roasty/burnt chocolate malty flavor with a hint of smoke, vanilla, and dark chocolate. Pretty smooth drinking RIS.

Bottle, pours a nice dark black, what a great brew, the malts are very thick and the taste is very chocolatey and roasty. really well blended. Definitely a winner for me

33cl bottle at Hndverkerstuene. Bottled 2011-06-16. Best before 2036-06-16. Pitch black colour with a small head. Lots of sugar, liqorice. Some alcohol and smoke as well. Flavour is suprisingly round. Lots of sugar, liqorice and smoke again. The alcohol is present, but well hidden. The bitterness and hops creeps up after a while. A very nice Imperial Stout.

Bottle from De Molen. Poured dark black with light tan head that retained. Very roasty aromas and flavours. Hints of darker fruits mixed with mostly roasted chocolate malts.

rand (1660) - SWITZERLAND - SEP 1, 2011
Bottle 33 cl from erzbierschof.ch. Opaque black, nice tan head, some laces. Scents of roasted, coffee, chocolate, dust, dark fruits. Taste of coffee, wood, treacle, earthy, licorice, juniper, hint of brimstone. A carbonation gives it a certain mossy texture. A liqueur-like beer, syrupy, with a long persistence on the roast and a perfect balance with the bitterness.
