Rich dark brown/black color; Heavy creamy body; Aroma of toasted sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, & some licorice; Flavor of roasted sweet malt, coffee/espresso, rich dark chocolate, caramel, and some dark fruit; Nicely balanced and complex; Overall, not as intense as others - but well made.

TET (3033) - Kaarina, FINLAND - OCT 22, 2011
Black beer with a beautiful, medium and brown head. Aroma is great and complex, lots of liquirice, hint of fruitness, alcohol gives intensivity, lots of roastiness but also balancing sweetness. Taste is balanced, but not so complex and also dryer than aroma, roastiness, liquirice, black coffee, lots of drying bitterness and the aftertaste is almost dry. Full bodied, slippery and pleasant to drink. Very tastefull and enjoyable IS, every pieces are in place at this beer.

Small brown head. Opaque black body is just barely deep dark translucent red with strong carbonation. Deep round chocolatey earthy aroma with dusty milky notes. Dry-sweet earthy chocolatey taste with coffeeish peppery notes. Round, smooth mouthfeel with mealy peppery edges. Full-bodied. Dryish burnt roasty aftertaste with mealy soy sauce and chocolate notes. Touches of dried fruit, too. Excellent! Smooth, round imperial stout. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Bottle 388 March 2, 2009, 750ml. Reddish black with no head. Prune, alcohol, bit of peat, burnt toffee, some chocolate. Sweet, low carbonation, some alcohol and grape notes on the finish, chalky and dry. Was not a big fan of this but hoping some age will improve this a bit.

Maussa on paahtunutta mallasta, kahvia, hieman katkeraa humalointia. Imperial stouteille tuttu runko on läsnä, mutta ei ehkä yhtä vahvana kuin usealla muulla. Röyhtäyksen mukana tuleva puinen humalointi saa hymyn kuitenkin huulilleni.

mile (3947) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 12, 2011
Bottle. Very dark brown, small to average and mostly diminishing dark brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, roasted malt and coffee and some salty licorice, light caramel. Body is medium to full, malty and sweet flavor, lots of coffee with roasted malt and some licorice, faint alcohol. Finish is average to long, malty and sweetish, coffee, lots of roasted - burnt malt, some licorice and alcohol with hoppy bitterness. Nice burnt - roasted IS, bit too much coffee.

GODiSSOUTHERN (390) - Virginia, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Poors almost black with a small tan head. Flavors of bitter chocolate, burnt sugar and toffee. Nice bitterness to match the sweetness.

erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - OCT 7, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2012 Gusher. Big brown head over dark body. Big on chocolate, toffee, toast, cookies and dark cherries. Smooth body, perfect alcohol warmth. Delicious sweet taste with spicy notes. Long finish. Brilliant, brilliant beer. (33cl bottle) (Rating re-indexed)
