(bottle) pours a pitch black colour with a tall dense brown head. complex and multi-layered aroma of toasted malts and char, with underlying notes of milk chocolate, molasses, light coffee, wort and grass, perhaps even a little wood. as it warms some notes of toffee, dark fruits and a hint of alcohol. flavour has lots of earthy qualities, with a caramelly roundness to accentuate the all-encompassing ashy notes of the toasted malts. the finish is slightly herbal, with just a touch of alcohol. medium to strong-bodied with smooth but lively carbonation.

Another solid RIS tick. Hell yes. 750ml bottle thanks to nickd717, who generously shared this with 5 starving Somalian orphans and myself. Pours black - not totally opaque but still pretty black - with a small light tan head that fades to swirls of foam. Not terribly viscous but not thin. The aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, and roast. Fairly standard but really sharp and balanced. The flavor is fairly subtle, but you dont always need these beers to punch you in the face. Coffee, dark chocolate, raisin, black cherry, toffee, and slight Belgian notes. Not too sweet. Dry on the mouthfeel with medium body for the style. Carbonation level is low but not too low. Overall this is excellent. Im starting to like more subtle RISes these days, and this fits the bill well. Easy to drink in excess.

33 cl bottle. Never saw a bottle gushing like this one before. Didnt expect a gushing bottle from a Molen beer. Opend with a big bang and kept gushing till I emptied the bottle. The experience started disappointing but soon became heavenly (or should I say Hellish!). Pitch black beer with a huge tan head. Great aroma with hints of chocolate, coffee and raisins. Great taste with a lot of chocolate. Some coffee follows. Full mouthfeel which last forever. Good aftertaste where some light hop hints kick in. Will try this one again very soon. Hopefully a non-gushy bottle. Thank you Menno!

Bottle 028; about two years old. Pour is a rich black with a thick and large brown head that lingers for quite some time. When it finally settles, a 1 cm layer of thick brown foam remains. Aroma is decadent: lots of rich caramel malt, roasted malt, brown sugar, light coffee, light chocolate, faint brandy, and a faint nuttiness. This is really a top notch aroma. I gave it about 10 minutes or more to breathe first. The palate is quite a bit more effervescent than expected. Flavor is loaded with rich roasted and caramel malts. Also notes of brown sugar, chocolate, and light alcohol. The finish is dominated by roasted malt and light coffee. It has plenty of body, but is incredibly drinkable. For some reason, I did not think this beer was going to be that good and I kind of opened it up on a whim. I could not have been more wrong. This is absolutely exceptional stuff. Wow.

330mL bottle. Pours opaque black-red with a persistent light brown head. Roast, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and alcohol with some piney hops in the aroma. The roast is strong with a slight hop bitterness hidden behind it, and a mild amount of sweetness. Full bodied, lively carbonation and silky smooth with a roasty finish.

Bad a@#. Big nose of dark fruit, whiskey and chocolate. In the mouth its liquid black gold.Dark chocolate, alcohol, whiskey, bourbon and a well rounded body. I prefer the true complexity of the rasputin, but this is still top tier dark malted liquid damnation in its purest form. Now if you dont mind I have a date with the devil...
