Bottle 18 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours an opaque dark brown with an orange hue and a rough light brown head. Lovely barrel aroma and hard roast malts. Solid body, rather low in carbonation, hard roasted malts and lots of chocolate again with a barrel edge. No real bitterness but quite a boozy and warming finish. 250810 Beerhunter111 (23274) - Beerland, GERMANY - MAR 28, 2014

Black color with brownish creamy head. Nice aroma, roasted malt, cardboard, tobacco, coffee, hint of Bourbon, alcohol. Thick body, round mouthfeel; it has an excellent flavor of roasted malt and dark chocolate, revealing all the skills of De Molen with dark malts; it has a moderate sweetness that well balances the strong bitterness; the flavor is completed by the presence of leather, tobacco, chocolate cookies and light Bourbon vanilla; the final is warming, with some alcohol, but less complex.
Bottle at home, from Cotteridge Wines, 14/07/13.
Mid black, thin tan film that retains well.
Nose is roast malt, brown sugar, light booze, chocolate, oaky, vanilla, toffee fudge.
Taste comprises dark malts, light roastyness, chocolate, demerara sugars, toffee fudge, subtle bourbon notes giving a nice boozey taste but by no means overhwelming.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, smooth and caressing to the palate.
Great stuff, the best Impy I’ve had in a while - will buy up more of these given the chance. The alcohol is hardly noticeable, the mouth feel pitched perfectly making it dangerousuly drinkable. mcberko (19869) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 27, 2013
UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige / tan head. Nose is very rich, full of bourbon barrels, heavily roasted (nearly burnt) malt, dark chocolate, and more bourbon - extremely complex. Flavour is intensely complex and rich, full of deep dark chocolate, exquisite bourbon barrels, a little treacly notes, and some wood. Extremely rich and deeply layered, with the barrels used to perfection - not overburdening in any way. The sweetness factor is low, which is how I prefer my impie stouts. Finishes on notes of bourbon and rich, barely sweetened dark chocolate. A wonderful BA rendition of Hel & Verdoemenis. harrisoni (19549) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - SEP 1, 2010
Bottle thanks to Fin. Cheers my friend. Thanks so much. Black and thin tan head. Looking forward to this as Menno produces some of the best strong stouts in the world. Lovely intense dark choc and espresso coffee aroma with relatively subtle bourbon barrel aroma. Vanilla and wood definitely present though. I must admit, I do prefer something maybe more subtle as I’m not the world’s biggest Bourbon fan. In the mouth is an explosion of flavour. I mean the intense bitter dark choc finish is exquisite, simply exquisite. Smooth and full in mouth, even with some full milk stout lactic qualities. Bourbon clearly carries through the beer, but I enjoy the mouthfeel very much and the rich aggressive roast finish really is very special. The choc is absolutely gorgeous. Touch of heat on the finish. Really rather fabulous. Will be interesting to see how this develops over the years. rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 5, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 Bottle nr 1312. Pitch black, small beige head. Oaky aroma, woody, chocolate, milk, tar and licorice, oily notes. Oily salty flavor, tar, quite bitter, smokt notes, licorice, milky and with dry notes. Quite long bitter salty tar finish. Wonderful beer with an incredible body and with alcohol well hidden. chrisv10 (18733) - DENMARK - MAR 28, 2011
