BigMomma (241) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUN 28, 2010
UPDATED: APR 19, 2011 18cl bottle shared with Travlr and Owen at the Struise schoolhouse. Green wax. Bottle #360 of 2483, brewed on 23 July 2009 and bottled on 8 June 2010. Dark black color with a very small brown head that only appears at the side after some stirring with the glas. Aroma of lots of coffee, slight vanilla, roasted malts, dark chocolate and whisky. Taste has huge dark bitter chocolate, alcohol burn and a burned coffee/charcoal attack at the throat. Aftertaste is dry with bitter coffee. Great imperial stout.

Bottle from de Bierkoning. Black with a small froth. Intense vanilla and chocolate aroma, also a bit earthy. Lovely marzipane, alcohol, chocolate and vanilla flavours. Smooth and full-bodied. Delicious.

lusikka (7813) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 29, 2011
Draught @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Rated @ 27.5.2011.
Pours a pitch black colour with a beautiful dark brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and oak. Flavour of roasted malts, oak, bourbon, hops and smooth caramel. Full bodied with a thick mouthfeel and a dry, roasty, caramel-like finish where the bourbon barrel feels slightly stinging. Yet another tasty brew from De Molen.

Bottle. Clear dark brown color with a small, frothy off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, light alcohol, dried fruit notes. Flavour is sweet and bitter with a long duration, alcohol and moderate chocolate malt. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

180ml bottle shared @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki

Bottled 08 June 2010 Pours pitch black with a minimal beige head. Very strong aroma of oaky vanilla with hints of alcohol, liqourice and coffee. Taste is strong and complex with notes of vanilla, oak, whisky, roasted malts and coffee. Long lasting sticky finish with a nice sweet touch. Excellent barrel aged imperial stout.

18 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu. #1962: brewed 23.7.2009, bottled 08.06.2010, BBE 08.06.2035.
Very nice aroma with vanilla and hints of stinging whiskey. Stinging whiskey in the flavour, but some syrup-like roasted malt and some oat too. Very nice stuff, although the whiskey stings a little bit too much and lingers in the aftertaste.

D’un côté une impériale stout caramel / toffe et de l’autre une IPA avec une amertume ni florale ni fruitée. Unique mélange sans trop d’équilibre mais d’une étrange efficacité. Probablement supérieur avec le temps.

RasmusOtt (2740) - Aarhus, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2014 Bottle. Pours black with almost no head. Aroma of espresso coffee, sweet chocolate, some oak, vanilla, prunes, dates, roast and very weak notes of earth. Taste of roasted coffee, alot of liquorice coming through, bourbon, wood, some weak salty notes, warming alcohol leading to a dry end. Very good!

Pitch black, tiny brown head, flat and very viscous. Aroma is spicy, chocolatey, oaky, roasty, vanilla, very sweet and complex, with some fainter coffee and whisky. The aroma is so rich it’s almost fattening. For me this beer tastes a bit like a tiramisu; chocolate, coffee and rich, dark alcohol. Any dry, roasty flavours are almost drowned out by the sweetness, though there is a bit of a coffeeish, though very chocolatey aftertaste. But throughout there is a bitter, refreshing tartness. Lovely, smooth mouthfeel. A really complex and fascinating beer. The only reason i didn’t give this a 9 or 10 is because it’s a bit too sweet for me.
