BigMomma (249) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JUN 28, 2010
UPDATED: APR 19, 2011 18cl bottle shared with Travlr and Owen at the Struise schoolhouse. Green wax. Bottle #360 of 2483, brewed on 23 July 2009 and bottled on 8 June 2010. Dark black color with a very small brown head that only appears at the side after some stirring with the glas. Aroma of lots of coffee, slight vanilla, roasted malts, dark chocolate and whisky. Taste has huge dark bitter chocolate, alcohol burn and a burned coffee/charcoal attack at the throat. Aftertaste is dry with bitter coffee. Great imperial stout.

Bottle from de Bierkoning. Black with a small froth. Intense vanilla and chocolate aroma, also a bit earthy. Lovely marzipane, alcohol, chocolate and vanilla flavours. Smooth and full-bodied. Delicious.

Bottle that I picked up from De Molen brewery, Bodegraven, Netherlands in June consumed at Fairports Cropredy Convention Annual Reunion 14.08.10 This is very black in colour if anything can be very black, in fact just black is probably descriptive enough, its black! Dense looking Imperial Stout with a beige head. The aroma is wonderful, wafts of vanilla, coffee and baileys. This is sticky in the mouth but marvellous, wonderful sensual feel as it coats the inside of the mouth. Some booziness from the bourbon ageing and there is a bit of wet wood and chocolate. Lovely. Bottled, thanks caesar. Opaque black, almost no head. Chocolate malts and lactic notes in aroma. Enormously complex flavor, strong development in every sip. Malts, very woody, coffee, liquorice. Very good.

[email protected] Apperance: Darkish brown with a , wee, beige head. Aroma: Bourbon, Caramel, Roasted malts, Hint of overripe fruit. Taste: Liqorice, Vanilla, Chocolate, Dark caramel, Portwine and a hint of alcohol. Palate: Velvety smooth with an edge of bitterness and alcohol. Low carbonation. This is a fine stout from Herr Menno. Very smooth and highly drinkable. I would wish for a little more residual sweetness and a wee bit more body but other than that this is superb. Impressive.
