18cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Just when you think H&V and its spin-offs can’t get any better they come up with this. Holy crap.. Shame it’s only in such a ridiculously small bottle. Black colour, no head, upon swirling tiny bubbles emerge giving a thin film of brown head. Aroma is glorious, soft but full on bourbon, vanilla, later on some soft smoke/peat notes, liquorice root, chocolate, coffee. Flavour is sweet, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, hard roasted malts, coffee, light peat, earthy liquorice root, strong bitter roasted finish with loads of chocolate. Fullbodied, soft mouthfeel, hardly any carbonation but it suits the beer fine. Alcohol barely noticed. Bourbon notes come out a bit too strong when the beer warms up. Overall this is just excellent! floris87 (35) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - OCT 30, 2010
Oily, very dark ruby with no head. Aroma of alcohol, chocolate, raisins, vanilla, licorice and a small hint of citrus. Taste is sweet, and fades into a very nice combination of whisky, chocolate and vanilla. De Molen never disappoints. BelgBeerGeek (1308) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JAN 22, 2011

colour: black as "hell" ;-)
smell: ripe banana, vanilla, strong red wine ( merlot, cabernet sauvignon, etc), strong alcoholic scent , sweet pears , and many more ,great scent in my eyes !!!
taste: strong licqoury coffee taste , heavly burned malts, i can find the alcohol but not the tipycal taste that whiskey has ....light coffee accent with grassy notes in the background, some nice red fruits as well , especially the tiny sour accent of the red fruits , anyway this is an amzing beer and by far the best of the hel en verdoemenis series i’ve had to date !! truely amazing , well done menno !!
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 Bottle nr 1312. Pitch black, small beige head. Oaky aroma, woody, chocolate, milk, tar and licorice, oily notes. Oily salty flavor, tar, quite bitter, smokt notes, licorice, milky and with dry notes. Quite long bitter salty tar finish. Wonderful beer with an incredible body and with alcohol well hidden. wavers1 (916) - Notown, California, USA - FEB 15, 2011
nice brew. a lil flat like usual, i love just a touch more carb in the back of the palate myself. still a dynamite brew. excellent and interesting spirit profile on top of a typical tarry, heavy de molen stout. i preferred the wild turkey itself slightly, but this one has a probably a more complex barrel profile.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2013 Bottle #168/360, opened 2011. Black with a dark brown tinge, tan to light brown head that instantly disappears into a porous ring. Aroma: chocolate liqueur, vanilla, oak, licorice. Taste: chocolate, pralines, salty licorice, some bourbon, vanilla, vinous, dry finish. Warming alcohol, but doesn’t really feel like 12%. Full-bodied with noticeable carbonation. Great! VsXsV (4438) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2011
My last 2010: #229/360, opened 2013.
Aroma: chocolate pralines, liqueur, bourbon, oak.
Taste: sweet licorice and some salty too, chocolate pralines, Irish cream, bourbon, oak and sawdust, vanilla.
18 cl bottle from Systembolaget. From batch bottled 110214, bottle 93 out of 360. Black liquid with minimal brown head that dissipates in seconds. Some nice lacing. Smells of wood/oak, bourbon, licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and some caramel. Very elegant. Taste is medium sweet with medium to high bitterness (no less than 99.9 IBUs) with lots of wonderful, chocolatey and coffeish notes. The bourbon ageing is well noticed but absolutely not overpowering. Taste is also very elegant and balanced. Some alcoholic burn, but that’s expected. Full bodied with little carbonation and smooth, sticky mouthfeel. Overall, stunning imp stout with great balance and elegance. mcberko (17828) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 27, 2013
UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige / tan head. Nose is very rich, full of bourbon barrels, heavily roasted (nearly burnt) malt, dark chocolate, and more bourbon - extremely complex. Flavour is intensely complex and rich, full of deep dark chocolate, exquisite bourbon barrels, a little treacly notes, and some wood. Extremely rich and deeply layered, with the barrels used to perfection - not overburdening in any way. The sweetness factor is low, which is how I prefer my impie stouts. Finishes on notes of bourbon and rich, barely sweetened dark chocolate. A wonderful BA rendition of Hel & Verdoemenis. HonusWagner (2168) - Florida, USA - JUL 8, 2013
An excellent barrel-aged stout, not overwhelming bourbon character, great chocolate character while not being a rush of sugar to the dome. One of the standout beers from Festival 2013 for me. ChopperPY (56) - SWITZERLAND - JUL 31, 2013
Comme c est bon ! Tellement d arômes se succèdent qu on croirait déguster plusieurs breuvages en même temps c est une expérience, un voyage et une découverte inoubliable... De Molen ils sont très très forts ! Merci !
